Edwards may be done - questionable home sale.
from here:

http://salon.com/news/wire/2003/11/01/edwards/index.html

<snip>
Nov. 1, 2003 | WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The public relations specialist hired by Saudi Arabia to influence Congress and the public after the Sept. 11 attacks struck a deal to buy the home of Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards last year as he and other Senate Intelligence Committee members were investigating Saudi and U.S. terrorism lapses.
</snip>

<snip>
Although the sale broke off nearly a year ago, Edwards hasn't returned or publicly disclosed Petruzzello's $100,000 deposit, which remains in a real estate escrow account as the senator decides what to do with it.

2. So no money changed hands, and no sale
The house was never sold, Edwards never got any money, the sale was called off.

So this about Edwards, and nothing about Bush's extensive Saudi connections.

3. another non-issue
just like Dean's comment on wanting to get guys in pickups who have a confederate flag to vote Democratic. I see that Edwards has done nothing wrong. As for Dean, the only way these guys who have confederate flags will change their ways is to educate them and deliver them from the GOP by appealing to them on issues such as education, jobs, and healthcare.

4. Regrettable, nothing here, but hay will be made
meanwhile, Bush* gets off scott-free for actual and provable treasonous activity. Gotta love majority power.

6. There is nothing questionable about any
of this. If someone is a traitor to their country in time of war and I do mean shrub and can be "selected" president - how on earth could someone even imagine this with Edwards to be an "event"

7. I'm not fond of Edwards but this is a "No Go" as attack against him!
Leave it! The "new real estate laws" have big restrictions about disclosure of whose buying your house.

I live in NC saw the story in my local paper.....but they didn't say why Edwards was selling his house and which house it was, but this seemed more like the Repug "Attack Machine" than a real mistake by Edwards being some kind of "crony with the Saudi's.

As I said.....not an Edwards fan......but this story is Bull! Nothing there.....move along.

9. this quote says it all
"This guy never said anything to me about Saudi Arabia," Edwards said, noting he was critical of the Saudis both before and after the house deal. "So it is an arms-length transaction with a stranger, and he ends up backing out of the deal, which created a financial loss for us."

Unless Edwards is lying, that would explain why they haven't returned the escrowed money. If the buyer backed out without a contractual clause permitting it, the seller gets to keep the "earnest money deposit."

10. It's A Non-Issue
The deposit remains in an escrow account and Edwards hasn't touched it. Once the legalities are worked out (Saudi involvement and probably Asskrap's decision), Petruzzello will probably get his deposit back with interest.

It's not like Edwards financed his campaign with the money.
