Clark is going to do "Wireside Chats"
Edited on Sat Nov-01-03 06:45 PM by familydoctor
Wes Clark is going to have two-way meetings
periodically on our blog. I just wanted to make
sure Clark supporters here are aware. I hope we don't
get held up due to technical difficulties.

Wes Clark's Wireside Chats Start Monday

During the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt spoke to the nation in a series of radio addresses known as fireside chats. Monday General Wesley Clark updates FDR's idea with the world's first 'Wireside Chats,' a live online discussion about the day's hot topics.

Unlike fireside chats, wireside chats will be a two-way conversation. People who log on to the Clark website will be able to ask Clark burning questions about timely issues.

"Not only will we be able to hear from him, he'll be able to hear from us - in real time," said John Hlinko, director of Internet Strategy. "So log on to Clark04.com, throw a 'blog' on the fire, and help build a better future for America - one keystroke at a time."

The Wireside Chat will be from 5 to 5:30 pm ET. Log on at:

2. I hope this is a regular event
It's neat because it can be done regardless of where Clark is. No cameras or press necessary which is a good thing since the press seems to be ignoring Clark anyway.

Edited on Sat Nov-01-03 07:03 PM by pruner
is this gonna take place on the blog, or are they gonna set up a real-time chat forum?

whatever the case, I think it's a good idea.

it'd be really cool if he used a webcam when he was chatting.

6. Great idea!
And I wouldn't be surprised if the idea came from one of his grassroots people. That's were some of the best ideas of this election cycle are coming from.

7. A few of us put the idea out there on the blog....
one of them was me.

I don't know if it came from us or was planned all along.

11. I wonder
if we will get the same nuggets of profound political wisdom that he usually says such as "I am against unemployment."
Save the fireside chats Weasley, you aren't president.

12. And yet
You never bothered to investigate the details of his economic plan? I like the new commission he's proposing to force congress's hand in corporate loophole matters.

Of course, it's much easier just to fling around vague smears rather than investigate. :eyes:

16. Coolness
Got an e-mail about this today. If I can make it to the chat you can bet that I will!

One BIG plus is that his handlers won't be able to be able to keep him away from his supporters so he will hear what the PEOPLE want, not what the "professionals" want.

18. He should be doing video!
The Wireside Chat thing is cool, but let's not do it only radio style. Clark should be doing video too. He is outstanding on camera, and the footage he generates would probably make its way to lots of free TV coverage.
