With this stuff going on about the southerners and etc. Well I am officially netural in this but I agree with Howard Dean in that those poor working class white southerners should be voting democratic not republican. Their schools need to be fixed and they need good health care, hes right. I dont consider him a sympathizer of the confederacy and I highly dislike the rebel flag for everyones info. Now on to the quote Kenendy made and this can be made to perceive any way you want.

1. He simply didn't have to use stereotypes to make his point
if he had said "Reagan Democrats" or even "southern whites" then fine. But needlessly bringing up images of Pick-Ups plastered with the confederate flag is just needless unconstructive stereotyping.
There's no excuse for it.

Wait on the Reagan democrats, I thought those were urban working class democrats in the north. Well I dont know pol sci well. Not all Southern Whites have that, and thats true. Now what do you think of what Bobby said, I think that applies to more than what he said then.

12. Bobby was great.
That's the whole point- to bring us all together. Clinton certainly wanted to do it, and Gore had a pretty good populist thing going in 2000. I don't think Bobby ever said anything as crude as what Dean did but he was a much, much, smarter guy. If Dean wants to get elected he better elevate the level of the dialogue.
BTW: RFK was also a New Yorker from Mass. ;-)

I am not talking about Dean the man and Kennedy the man. Unity is what it is all about true. Bobby also lived here in Northern Va when he was AG.

Just call me Kleeb or John, that applies to all, more easy for me. Why are those southern voters voting GOP one asks, I thinks the root lies in Nixon's southern stragety. Also I saw Dean bring up FDR in his response to this, good for him, I am glad to see my guy Kucinich isnt the only one bringing up him, FDR is a great example.

that doesn't mean that they should be allowed to keep symbols of racism on government buildings, though.

We can campaign for their votes without becoming the racist party again. Let's leave the racists to the republicans.

9. I dont know if Dean said they should be allowed to fly the flag
but I say this FUCK THE CONFEDERATE FLAG. I hate it. Yes I am a Virginian by birth and raise, but I do consider myself a yankee, and indeed my civil war relative was a yankee soldier. Lets campaign for their votes by offering them great hope I think.

the Democratic Party should not attack the South. We should not generalize about Southerners, or ignore their vote. We should campaign for them and represent their interests, when it comes to things like welfare and infrastructure and jobs and education. We SHOULDN'T, however, establish ourselves as the racist party for political gain. We should fight for civil rights every step of the way, regardless of how many Klansmen who might otherwise vote Dem we alienate.
