4. This might be a repeat
I read their book "Buck up, suck up and how to come back when you F up" a couple of years ago. I didn't really like the book, because it didn't have the political red meat that I expected from these guys. I'm still a big fan of both though!

5. zzzzzzzzz ...
i like both of these guys but so far all they've done is peddle their book ... discussions about clinton's campaign for office and "sucking up to the little people" are a little esoteric while we're in the middle of a war with bush ...

maybe they'll get to current events later in the show but so far, i'd rather read and write on DU than watch TV ...

6. Carville's rolling now !!
much better ...

he's talking about all the additional corporate tax cuts taking effect now ... some democrat has to take charge and speak out against all this stuff ... it was clear that Carville did not think that was happening yet and that he's not satisfied with the lack of leadership on the part of the candidates ... his statement was more or less a "call to arms" ...

he also criticized the way all the dem candidates are slinging charges at each other ...

8. Did you catch his little comment ??
he said, that if Kerry or Edwards would stop spending so much time focussing on their IWR votes and started talking about what they would do NOW about Iraq, their campaigns would take off like you wouldn't believe ...

I wonder if he thinks Dean is likely to get caught by one of these two ...

comments ??

10. I took that as they shouldn't be forced to
keep talking about the vote, that people who are using the vote against them to prevent them from being heard on a whole host of issues. It's the press who forces it. Both CNN and FOX pushed it throughout the debates. The media does control the perception in that way.

12. interesting read ...
i'm not sure i picked up your nuance that the pressure on them to talk about their IWR vote was being done "to them" by the press to keep them from addressing other issues ... it's not that I disagree with your read ... i just didn't remember Carville's comments that way ... and anyway, if that's indeed what the press is doing, i'm confident that either one of these guys has the political skills to get their message out anyway ...

but the greater intent I had in posting Carville's comments wasn't so much to emphasize the problems they had focussing on other issues but rather on Carville's observation that their campaigns "would take off like you wouldn't believe" if they did ...

i really wonder whether Carville thinks Dean will fade once either or both of these candidates get their acts together ...

and i wonder if he's right ...

9. I had to turn it off
When they both started expounding about "sucking up" to people, especially by saying you can never say anything too nice about someones kids, I found it embarrassing. This is the kind of political consultants our party can do without.

11. amen......did you hear the part about poppy?
"great American Hero" in WWII.

huh? he got shot down, and maybe left his crewmates to die, by bailing out as fast as he possibly could

Begala also loves Zell Miller (apparently owes his career to him, somehow......to be fair, doesn't agree with him AFA endorsing *).

way too solicitous of his opponents, much of the time.

But........excellent thoughts WRT always trying to frame the debate, whenever possible, at which he admits the pugs are most expert.

one of them expanded on that by insisting dem candidates MUST strongly introduce their own tax plan, without using Bush's tax cuts as a starting point, ala getting rid of some or all of them, as most candidates are doing at this point.
