he's the only one who's gotten us talking about race issues here.

1. Not to be too sarcastic
but isn't that analogy sort of like Bush saying violence in Iraq is good because it shows we are winning/achieving peace?

12. Maybe you are mistaking Bush policies for Dean policies?
I understand what you are saying, but it is not the same thing, hunny. What Bush is saying is not anywhere close to what Dean is saying by any means. Dean's position was from the beginning, against the war ...once we got there, his position (and I may be overstepping it here) is get the US out, get the UN in to take over and as soon as possible, have the Iraqis take over their own government. Without all the US corporations taking control. Let me know if I am wrong on this one, but I am supporting Howard Dean for the reason that he makes a lot of sense and has some actual solutions...As far as Bush is concerned...i rest my case!

5. Don't hate Dean, hate the pathetic pandering
I guess he will be speaking next with Trent and Haley at those Citizens council meetings.

6. Dean may one day be important enough to have haters
however he is no Bill Clinton yet and may never be. So don't use the overly dramatic "Dean haters". The very phrase cheapens the shared experience we had during the Clinton administration, with the impeachment etc...

7. I wish we didn't have haters of any Democrat here.
That would go along way in defeating Dumbya.

8. Pruner, please.
You are someone I respect here. I understand your comment, but geez. There are better ways to get the race and flag issues discussed. You do not need to offend a section of population. Then again, it is the most effective way to put it on peoples radars.

10. frankly I don't understand how anyone can be offended by what he said
Edited on Sat Nov-01-03 10:33 PM by pruner
I actually see Kerry & Gephardt's comments as being much more divisive than anything Dean's said.

the Democratic party is supposed to have a big tent… what's wrong with asking people who drive pick-ups with confederate flags in the windows to come on in.

assuming a Democrat wins the presidency next year, he'll be respresenting those people as well.

edited to include a "thank you" for the compliment

:)

14. Sorry to disagree with a fellow Deaniac
but we aren't talking about racial issues, we are accusing or defending Dean of supporting racists, over a bogus comment he made
and the pink tutu cockroaches are misrepresenting.

We need to talk about affirmative action, reparations, social justice, and equal rights - real racial issues, but Dean's the frontrunner so we are infighting over silly crap. Giving Karl Rove ammunition to attack the nominee with, but that's okay because when the front runner wins we are on the way to the WH in 05. Maybe even get people motivated and take some seats back in Congress, with Dean as the new leader of the Dem party. ;)

and they have run into this shit, like "you can t vote, it's like lunch time...etc....let me tell you if it werent' for the guts of my friends who drove those people to the polls....Let this man vote!!! said my friend...you would never believe this but it is true...there are actually people that will block anyone from voting. I am going to be out there to make sure this does not happen in my district. Do not Stand in my way. I will roll over anyone that thinks they can get in our way. Everyone that wants to vote is going to do so.

16. Dean is not afraid to talk race.
And he talks about it openly and bluntly. Take a look at his bio video..his roommate from Yale (who is black) speaks pretty well of him.

I understood from the lst time I heard Dean talk about how he intends to speak to the South. Talked about white guys in pick-up trucks w/ confederate flags. I understood what he meant bec I live in Tampa...and see it all the time. These people USED to be Democrats. They do not have a lot of $, but listen to Rush who is the REAL divider and vote Repug. Dean is asking them why? Why are you voting Repug? Does your family have health care? Did you get a raise? Are your kids getting a good education? These are provocative questions and I for one think it's a good way to reach people who really DON'T know why they are voting Repug.

FWIW.
