Some Weird, Random Clark Stories From Today
A couple of weeks ago, at the West L.A. meetup, there was a guy who represented the "Mars Society of Southern California" who was very curious about Clark's position on space exploration. I told him I didn't know, but that I'd forward the question on to HQ. He gave me a letter and some pamphlets as well, which I duly sent to Little Rock.

I saw the guy again today, at the Town Hall meeting, again asking about space exploration. This time, I was able to tell him (somewhat bemusedly) that the General had recently made a statement in favor of NASA. BTW, I went looking for that statement so that I could e-mail it to the guy, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone happen to have it handy?

I also had occasion to meet ABC's "embedded" reporter for the Clark campaign, Deborah Apton (who also recently covered the Davis/Bustamante side of the recall). You can read her work here:

(For those who care about such things, she is smokin' hot. Academically speaking, of course, as I'm spoken for. But I digress.)

I asked her what Clark was like as a person, and she was very complimentary while still maintaining her sense of journalistic integrity. Apparently, he treats all of the people in his "entourage" (my word, not hers) extremely well, and he always makes sure to ask, "Deb, have you eaten? Do you want some food?"

Man, what a great job that must be!

1. Interesting "embedded" reporter link.
Thanks for the link. I've bookmarked Deborah Apton's page. And I'll take your word for her being hot :)

As for the quote...I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but he did mention a faith-based initiative for space, as a tongue in cheek jab at Bush.

"We need a vision of how we're going to move humanity ahead, and then we need to harness science to do it," Clark told a group of about 50 people in Newcastle, N.H., according to the newssite.

Continued Clark: "I still believe in e=mc², but I can't believe that in all of human history, we'll never ever be able to go beyond the speed of light to reach where we want to go. I happen to believe that mankind can do it "

Clark claims he has argued with physicists about the probability of time travel, but that despite opposition, he just has to "believe it," adding, "It's my only faith-based initiative," Wired reports.

----

Clark made the futuristic comments at the end of a question-and-answer session in which he addressed issues of space exploration and NASA.
