then I am going to lock it.

3. Dean
I'd vote for Dean against Bush, but then, I'd vote for any Demo except the repulsive Joe Lieberman.

5. Prepare for the bright side
That is, if Dean ends up losing due to being the weakest candidate of the top bracket to run then I will look forward to Hillary Clinton running in 2008.

Have any of you ever eaten a sizeable portion of grits?

As far as "Dean is a lock" Yea, it reminds me of what some cubbie fans said also.

12. Grits are the Southern version of polenta -- or polenta is Italian for

grits. In any case, I love grits but fail to see what they have to do with Howard Dean.

14. Did not know that. I'll have to try polenta, then
I'm really heartened by this poll, that after all the hammering on Dean, must people still are focussed on beating Bush. We might just win this thing after all, with or without Dean.

34. I don't know if Dean will get many black votes anymore - we'll have to see
THAT will be a big if. In addition, I think he may lose the votes of some Progressives who could vote 3rd Party or maybe not vote.

If I weren't so absolutely, totally desperate to beat Bush I would probably vote 3rd Party instead of Dean. I've been saying all along that I would vote for just about anyone before I'd vote for the fraud.

By bringing up southern cultural items. Low blow and a not-so-sneaky way to circumvent the rules.

9. Don't know what I'd do
The democrats in America might nominate him, but all his shifting statements and prevarication would almost assure a repug win in the general election. Hopefully, some folks will wake up...

30. Shifting Statements?
Which ones in particular would assure a republican of winning? After all the horrible out and out lies they tell, how could "shifting some statements" lose an election!

10. vote green then leave the country
Dean has no plan for international peace.

He has no plan to deal with Israel. And thus America will constantly be under attack.

I'm much safer living in Canada.

11. If Kermit the Frog wins the Dem nomination
Then I am voting for him-

It's really fun to sit on DU and get melodramatic about the Democratic candidates--but, on election day, I am voting for the Democrat whoever it is.

And no, I doubt I am leaving the country--again, fun to talk about, not easy to do.

while I would pull the lever for him in November, I will not lift a finger to ensure the election of a Rockefeller Republican. Such an outcome is something that one settles for, not something that one works for.

18. I won't vote for an NRA candidate. Morality has to start somewhere
Dean will never get my vote. What kind of people are we if allow a guy who has been endorsed 8 times by the NRA to be our champion? Especially after this NRA blacklist thing. What is the next thing this panderer will stoop too?

28. Have you actually LOOKED at his "gun" positions?
His NRA rating aside, he supports all current federal gun legislation and supports closing the gun show loophole. Beyond that, he believes that individual sataes have different gun legislation needs and they can best decide for themselves the level of restriction necessary. He's hardly a "pro-gun" candidate.

27. I'll vote for him
I went into this campaign with positive feelings about Howard Dean, and even though I'm pretty angry right now (like everyone else, it seems), and am absolutely clear that my candidate is better for the country, at the end of the day I always vote, and a vote for Bush is unthinkable. On the other hand, if an interesting 3rd party candidate not named Nader emerged, all bets are off.
