Here's how Dems can win in 2004 - one word |
|
LIES. Look what the Repukes did to Clinton and that was a petty crime when compared to 9-11 and Iraq. All the Democratic candidate should do is say the same message every day. They lied about everything and they will lie again to protect themselves. Do you want a compulsive liar in the White House? Lies, lies, and more lies!!

We motivate people to vote through anger. Get them angry by wanting to throw the f**king liars our of office. No one likes a liar, especially when the lies inflict so much damage.

I for one will not stoop to that level. The truth shall always win the day (it may take awhile though) but it's worth it.

5. No, the idea isn't that we lie. The idea is that we expose them as liars |

6. You are misreading what was posted... |

The post was about Republican prevarication. It was not advocating lying on the part of Democrats, but instead was urging them to highlight the history of Bush junta howlers.

10. And our response should be |
|
what they said when confronted with their Clinton hatred: "It's not mean if it's the truth. It's not 'unreasonable hatred,' it's the truth."

The truth is that they have lied, you know it, I know it, and many in the media know it. Have you not read any of the best selling books that are now unveiling in print all of the lies? Authors like Joe Conason, David Corn, even satirists like Al Franken are telling it like it is. The Dems have got to have a unified message that will resonate with the masses and inflame and enrage them enough to go to the polls and vote.

8. Right word...wrong messenger |

This is the difference between our situation and the Republicans. In 2000, did you ever hear Bush himself going after Al Gore as a liar? I honestly can not remember him doing so. Instead he talked about "coming together" and "changing the tone". He came off as above all that negative "political stuff"
Do you know why? Because he didn't have to. He had the full volume of the right wing media do it for him, all under the umbrella of "fair and balanced" objectivity.
MSNBC/Fox/Limbaugh/Hannity/Tweety etc etc etc...
We have nothing to compare this to on our side. Until that is rectified, our candidates have to bring the message home, and that makes them look like partisan attack dogs, and that turns many people off.
This is a real serious problem.

The media is a huge problem for us. But that said, exposing the lies and documenting them with a consistent daily message I believe will start to resonate. I think the American people are smart enough to figure out what is pure political bullshit attacking and what is truth. At least let's hope so.

14. Actually I do remember Bush calling Gore a liar in a televised debate... |
|
Not in so many words, but when debating the prescription drug program, Bush said about Gore, "I'm beginning to think that not only did he invent the internet but he invented the calculator! It's fuzzy math, trying to scare people away from the voting booth."
Plus, there was Rove in the background the whole time, spinning lies about Gore, misquoting him to the press...and the media helped Bush and Rove portray Gore as a liar. In fact, what I remember most about the 2000 campaign is the unquestioning perception of Gore as a liar, when in reality most of the quotes they were using against him were tken out of context or misrepresented, or such minor exhaggerations they barely warranted invvestigation.
Bush, though, has told so many whoppers, and gone unchallenged for them, that I believe he needs to be taken to the carpet for his lies...
