Why are we doing Karl Rove's work? |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 01:09 PM by caledesi
I know we all have great fervor for "our" candidates, but when there is post after post bashing your candidate's opponent, we are in essence doing Karl Rove's work? You don't think he lurks here; think again.
He probably has a little notebook with the candidate's name and culls all the negative stuff WE post about the candidate. And my friends, the longer and meaner the threads get, the happier Karl Rove is.
So next time you want to say that "Kerry is a waffler," or "Dean is racist," or "Kucinich bankrupted Cleveland" or "Clark voted repug," remember that KR is here taking it all in.
None of our candidates is perfect or had a perfect record, but in the end I think we are all ready to support whoever the nominee is. Why waste our energy? Why do Karl Rove's work?

8. Our comments do indeed mean something. Tell you why. |
|
Why do you think that sneaky Karl Rove was standing w/ the Dean supporters 6 months ago..I forget the event in DC. He was trying to get SCOOP as to why these people liked Dean.
Comeon, no the comments may not appear in a GOP ad, but you can be sure that KR has probably come across some little snippet of negative stuff about a candidate that he didn't know and we served it to him on a platter!

9. Why? Because advancing our favorite candidate is a holy mission |
|
Why? Because advancing our favorite candidate is a holy mission for some of us. There is too much of the idea that our candidate is the only true "prophet" and others are unholy and flawed, and must be destroyed. We lose sight of the fact that the difference among the upper tier candidates are not as great as some might believe (except Lieberman, if you consider him upper tier). Of course, some of the candidates are making serious contributions to reforming how politics works, and they are making a great contribution. And of course some candidates are stronger than others. But that does not mean that it should be open season to destroy the others.
It's easy for Rove not only to learn how to attack our candidates, but to actually influence the attacks via his shills: Drudge, RW talk shows etc. Those who wish to destroy the "unholy" candidates don't worry much about the source, after all, they are helping the "righteous" candidate on to victory. I wouldn't be surprised that eventually Rove will try to influence which candidate gets selected, as his mentors in the Nixon camapaign did with Muskie and McGovern. He'll probably wait until he decides which candidate is most flawed candidate, but capable of winning the nomination.

10. Disagree totally. Rove has the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, Homeland Security |

and countless contractor operative working for him. As they say in Intelligence, Rove even knows the slightest details of their private anatomy.
Rove has hundreds more times the information than all of us put together- film and voice included. Plus he has an army of analysts ready to comb through it and spit it out according to key-word.
We are not doing Rove's job, we are actually making some of his information ineffective by getting it out now so we can determine which will be the least weak candidate when the Rove machine really comes a calling.

11. Suddenly The Dean People Are Tired Of Candidate Bashing |
|
Join the friggin' club. You should have spoke up when Dean was slamming the other candidates for months before any of the others stood up to him. Dean makes it easy for Karl Rove. http://www.gop.org/Newsroom/RNCResearch/TLvideo2.htm

I think it's like a sugar high.... We seem to be a society, anymore, of getting kicks out of trashing each other. It's another form of adrenalin rush. Knowing how to disagree kindly and with a certain amount of chivalry is seen as weak and even "maudlin". Gotta have the excitement. Verbal war......
