2 CIA deaths in Afghanistan linked to the outing of Valerie Plame?

A caller to WLS in Chicago just made a statement that I hadn't heard before. He said that the CIA said that they had two people murdered last week (I think it was last week) in Afghanistan. The caller suggested that it was unusual for the CIA to announce these deaths AND that there could be some connection to revealing the name of Valerie Plame; that they were connected to her. Has anyone heard this before?

I believe this is very likely to have happened, I'm not doubting it. But some evidence would help raise the level of seriousness of the charges (although the leaker knew there was this risk - that is what makes the action so horrific.)

WASHINGTON -- Two contractors working for the CIA were killed in an ambush in Afghanistan, the agency said Tuesday.

William Carlson, 43, of Southern Pines, N.C., and Christopher Glenn Mueller, 32, of San Diego, were "tracking terrorists operating in the region" of Shkin, a village in eastern Afghanistan, when they were killed Saturday, the CIA said in a statement.

Have not yet seen or heard of any confirmation. On the other hand, how can the CIA take the risk of confirming it? If they do, that will only result in even more people being linked to either Valerie Plame or to those unfortunate CIA agents, which could then cause further deaths.

If it is true, and the CIA learns who the leaker is, there will be hell to pay.

I think they already know the name of the leaker. If the CIA is as good as it is supposed to be they have known it for some time. They have their ways you know. I wonder what their strategy will be. Do you think they are waiting until they get more information on more people in the administration? It could be they will take down more than one or two people. My tin hat hurts today.
