Official White House Reaction to today's events in Iraq (Fox News)
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 03:19 PM by VolcanoJen
No link yet... I'm transcribing this from Tivo, and it's as accurate and word-for-word as possible. Believe it or not, I'm watching Fox News, the only cable news outlet that's going live with the events. MSNBC's running Hardball repeats, and CNN is positively giddy with the latest economic information.

As a warning... be prepared for an upset stomach after reading the official White House reaction. They'll just never stop trying to link Iraq with 9/11...

Reporting live from Crawford, Texas, where President Bush is, Mike Emmanuel states:

"Just moments ago, we received fresh reaction from Trent Duffy, a White House spokesman. In response to the acts, he says 'Stakes are high in Iraq. The terrorists seem to kill coalition forces and innocent Iraqis because they want us to run, but our will and resolve are unshakeable. We will prevail in this critical front in the war on terror, because the stakes are too high to allow anything else.' The White House spokesman goes on to say 'September 11th taught us that we must confront terrorists and outlaw regimes with weapons of mass murder before it is too late. The only way to win the war on terror is to take the fight to the enemy. We mourn the loss of all brave men and women in our military and elsewhere who pay the ultimate sacrifice to make the world safer and better. They serve for the highest cause, to defend freedom and protect Americans from dangerous new threats before they reach our shores. We are forever grateful for their service and sacrifice. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones.'"

ON EDIT: Corrected spelling.

see this for what it really is. I am sick of their tale telling.

10. Resolve is nearly always "unshakeable" in they...
...unrequired to bury their dead themselves on a daily basis: http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=17079

Funny (in a predictable sort of way)...how after Rove packaging Bush throughout his bullshit, strewn with lies & vast deception 'presidential' campaign as a low-ball, low-bar expectation kind of a common man "the stakes are (now) too high to allow anything else" but the success of war as business as usual.

12. "make the world safer and better"
I'd like Bush to prove that. And no, him saying it repeatedly doesn't count as proof.

13. Boy they really are pushing that dumb logic talking point
"better we fight them over there instead of over here" blah blah blah. What's to stop them from attacking us over here? So all we really need to fight terrorism is start a war in another country? And they will do as we say and bomb over there and not here? It's such stupid logic I can't even believe that is their talking point.

15. Wow. Fox was just sorta *snarky* about the President.
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 04:18 PM by VolcanoJen
Their reporter (poor schmuck) in Crawford, Mike Emmanuel, just stated that although the President has been made aware of the events in Iraq today (in between his enthusiastic cedar-trimming sessions, surely), he has no personal comment to make, and instead issued a White House statement through White House spokesman (and probable flunkie) Trent Duffy.

He was a little snarky when saying that the President has no personal comments to make. Fascinating.

Oh, and I just loooooooved that performance of "Maybe This Time" by former pop-super-teen-queen Deborah (aka "Debbie") Gibson on Fox. It was really soothing to hear, as humans continue to die in Iraq.

Hey, at least Fox is talking about Iraq. I can't say the same about CNN and MSNBC.

Man, I'm having a really, really bad day today... I'm just so disillusioned, my friends. :-(
