Emergency Thread replacement: The DLC is the most evil group on the planet
and will be the death of freedom and justice, not to mention giving the election to George Bush and killing the unions, which is in the charter if you look close enough

8. I sez ...
Edited on Tue Jul-22-03 06:08 PM by Pepperbelly
the Greenies are damned near as bad as the republicans.

on edit ... I felt as though I owed an expaination for my remark. The Greenies are just as ideologically driven and even more prone to give up the people they pretend to be for in order to remain ideologically pure.

3. I refer to them as the DLC/PNAC
Because Will Marshall is a signatory to some of their letters and because of the recent letter coming from the DLC that is about "internationalization" and the use of force overseas.

4. Will Marshall is NOT with the DLC
He works for a think tank that has been used by the DLC the Progressive Institute something something. But he's hardly a major player in the DLC.

And I find it difficult to think the DLC is that dangerous when I check out this website: http://www.whitehouse.gov

Seriously folks!

10. He resigned from DLC not long ago, but PPI is still the brains of the DLC
Will Marshall is the president and founder of the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) and former Policy Director for the DLC. PPI was created to set policy for the DLC and is very closely connected to the DLC. In fact, the DLC website shows joint contact info for both organizations and the same person answers the phone for both (202-547-0001 PPI, 202-546-0007 DLC). He is also a signer on PNAC's statements on Iraq.

Mr. Marshall is not the only DLC/PNAC connection.

Tod Lindberg, frequently published by The Blueprint (the DLC magazine) also signed both PNAC Iraq statements, as did James Steinberg, Deputy National Security Advisor to President Clinton.

I also found claims that Gary Schmitt, president of PNAC and Ed Feulner of the Heritage Foundation helped fund the DLC in the beginning, but I have not found any real, verifiable proof of that.

Marshall Wittman, another Blueprint author, is a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute (Richard Perle, trustee) and former aid to Ralph Reed.

13. They share the same secretary and the same offices.
I was really upset about the Good Night, Vietnam article. I called the DLC number and ranted. Actually the secretary agreed with me, said she thought they were all too far right. Surprised me.

Then I called number for the Progressive Intitute, and the same lady answered. She said they are one and the same.

I have a feeling there are degrees of rightness and leftness there, just as there is here at DU. However, overall, Al From is one big headache.

I do know my Senator Nelson is very much like the GOP in his beliefs.

9. SPD joined nationalist Freikorps in 1919 to kill USPD (left-wing of party)
And then failed to see how unpopular the Weimar republic was in 1932, because aping the right doesn't beat the right.
