Colmes: Red, White & Liberal: How the Left is Right & the Right is Wrong
This is from Newsmax. Per DU's rules, I find Newsmax to be one the right's shillest tools.

I don't care too much for Alan Colmes but some(not all) of his answers in the interview were great, IMO, considering the loaded questions.

Not sure if he is serious in his chapter, "OJ Was Innocent."

On Alan Colmes new book Red, White & Liberal: How the Left is Right & the Right is Wrong

NEWSMAX: You say in your book that when it comes to leaving America vulnerable to the 9/11 attacks, "I point a finger directly at those conservatives who were hell bent on destroying Clinton and could think of nothing else. The brazen attempt to disable the president took up the time of Congress, the courts and the media and hobbled the executive branch's ability to focus it's energy on the well-being of the nation."

Does that mean that, for the good of the nation, Bill Clinton should have been allowed to get away with perjury?

COLMES: No, it means for the good of the country, the Constitutional bar for impeachment should have been respected, and the real business and best interests of the country were held hostage to those with an anti-Clinton agenda.

Although I know you can point to some exceptions, almost no prosecutor goes after perjury charges when someone lies about sex. This was not a "high crime". When are you Newsmax folks going to get over Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Last I checked, we have more important and current things to worry about.

NEWSMAX: Do you agree with Gen. Wesley Clark that 9/11 was Bush's fault?

COLMES: No. But I agree with his greater point that his balking at providing information to the Republican former New Jersey governor, Tom Kean , raises serious questions as to why the administraiton isn't helping the 9/11 commission get to the bottom of what happened. What are they trying to hide?

1. Standing up to Newsmax, sort of.
I'll give Colmes brownie points for that. I kind of like Newsmax on the defensive, sorta. :)

2. Colmes
would be much better if he stuck to writing. He is not a good representative of liberals on television

3. .....
Colmes is no debater, but I'm anticipating the book because he can often convey good ideas in other ways.

4. .....
"NewsMax caught up with the unabashedly liberal author this week and challenged him on some of his book's bizarre claims"

Hmmm.....didn't he tell USA Today he was a moderate?

Anyway, he nails this:

NEWSMAX: Why aren't liberals as popular as conservatives on talk radio?

COLMES: Conservatives see things in black and white; liberals are often more nuanced. Black and white sells; nuanced doesn't. Conservatives have a certitude liberals don't have.

5. Have some goddamn balls Colmes,
or get the hell off the air. I don't care how much they pay you to be Hannity's bitch or if you're afraid you might get anthraxed. Either play like you want to win this or get the fuck of the field.

6. Pretty good
Considering how he get's treated on H&C. I might just have to read this one.

Do you seen any similarities in these covers, though?

And I apologize for putting Hannity's smug fucking face in a DU thread, but I'm curious if anyone else thinks these covers are disturbingly similar.

8. "The left is right and the right is wrong" I believe I was possibly the
first person to use that phrase, back in the mid 60s. Long before FAUX was just a wet stain in Murdoch's jockey shorts and their odious "fair and balanced" shit.

I need to sue somebody.
