ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN GREEN THREADS ALREADY! |
|
Nobody's going to change anybody's mindset here...
Or, rather, change anybody's mindset to a positive advantage (meaning convincing those evil Greens to vote Dem, which is what you supposedly want, right?)
Indeed, the hot'n'hairy attitude around here is only going to chafe and get people angry and even more polarized, and what good will that do? :eyes: That's not a good way to win people over to your cause. Unless human psychological responses have changed overnight, which they haven't...
Sigh... The answers to these problems are so simple, yet people love to continue bickering because it's fun? ;(

1. I do not get how you think ... |
|
that the Greens are so put upon when for month after month after month, almost every thread had bomb throwers coming by and bashing the Democrats. I think that all concerned should, if they cannot take, refrain from dishing it out.

2. it's hard to argue here since we generally agree on everything |
|
so when we get a chance we take it. We tend to agree so much it's fun to fight amongst ourselves. Think of us as a family at Thanksgiving. When Aunt Margaret whines that Aunt Petunia's dressing isn't as good as Grandma's we start throwing the cranberry sauce at cousin Richie. It's fun.

I guess a contrarian position is good for the mind and helps sharpen debating skills.

7. My feelings about Greens/Nader is no secret but further polarization...... |
|
......is NOT MY GOAL. Nor am I trying to change anyone's mind about Dems, or Greens, and certainly not to change anyone's support for Nader. Rather, my goal is to show how completely self-destructive the splitting of the left is to one and all, especially if that left splitting leads to Bush being in the WH in 2005. That is the only situation that I think would cause a polarization of Greens and Dems that might be permanent.
I know someone is likely to suggest that Dems vote with Greens, or that Greens vote with Dems. To that I would say, one paty at least has a fighting chance of gaining control of the WH the other party doesn't. So my suggestion is always to go with common sense for now in our efforts to get rid of Bush & Co and then push further to the left.
I hope this message DOES NOT sound confrontational or in the least bit angry because it is meant as nothing more than informational.

10. the left is polarized |
|
one of the reasons why the green party exists. i am more concerned about people getting the opportunity to vote and having their votes counted than uniting the left. while i think it's a worthy goal, i just don't see it happening anytime soon. but, considering what happened in 2000, i know that making sure people who are eligible to vote can vote, and making sure votes get counted will have an impact on the outcome of 2004. and i trust that enough people, when faced with the choices in that voting booth (given the horrid state of our country), will do the right thing.

12. In order to have a chance |
|
In order to have a chance they would have to field a candidate with instant name recognition, low negatives, who could somehow articulate the green position and still appeal to a broad spectrum of the electorate.
Who could that be? Not Nader, obviously.
