Bush Agrees to Furnish Iraq Intelligence

By WILLIAM C. MANN
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The White House reversed itself and promised the Senate Intelligence Committee access to all materials requested for its inquiry into prewar intelligence on Iraq, the committee chairman said Sunday....

_______

Clark has been putting pressure on the Bush campaign
these past few days. Anyone here think he has helped
encourage Bush's backdown?

Is Bush just a bully who can't stand up to a confrontation?

Should we continue to take the war to the Bush Administration?

Is Clark taking the torch from Dean, using his Four Stars
to carry it further?

Will the media continue to challenge Bush if enough Democrats
stand strong?

Should the Democrat Candidates take Wes Clark's lead, stop
shooting each other, and focus on Bush instead?

1. I'll Believe it When I See It
They won't be handing over anything they don't want to. They do this all time; say they'll cooperate and then not cooperate but continue to say they are.

3. under the radar conversation
The WH and Clark have been talking through the media for several weeks now. First the banner...911 (Condi answered the next day)...Rummy's blather about increased Iraqi troops after Clark's Newshour appearance.

At first I thought it was coincidence, but now I don't think so.

Bob Graham knew something...I think Clark knows that now.

I'm surprized the WH responds, but so far they have.

4. I think it probably has more to do with the Republicans
I think it's going to take real leverage to pry those records out of Bush's stupid fingers.

9. If this was because of Clark, kudos to him...
... since getting these assholes to take responsibility for ANYTHING seems like an impossibility.

My only caveat is that I hope that by "turning over intelligence" it doesn't mean that after many delays and hemming and hawing that they eventually "hand over" a single file folder with crayon drawings of vials of sarin gas drawn by one of Bush's drunken daughters. "Turning over intelligence" sounds remarkably similar to me as "cooperating with the Justice department in the leak investigation" or "finding the real killers".

Sorry if I seem a little cynical, but I trust the Bush administration to do the right thing at roughly the same time we have a Muslim Lesbian President.

10. I think it is pressure from all sides...
this admin is beginning to realize they have no clothes, and they are going to put up the front that theyt will come clean.

However, they will put just enough out to take the heat off, there is NO WAY this group of idiots will put out anything that is detrimental to themselves. NOTHING is done, by any admin that is not beneficial to them. We have not had an honest president since Carter, and his honesty helped do him in. bush & company know this, and as sleazy as these goons are, I wouldn't trust them to deliver the afternoon paper!

12. They'll do what they always do, and the whores'll play along
They'll furnish hundreds of pages of vague, irrelevant, and innocuous stuff. Then they'll get FAUX, the Washington Post et. al. to do "Bush Provides Volumes of Prewar Intel" stories. When the committe complains, White House, DoD and DoS spokespeople will whine, "We provided more than 900 pages. We just can't let congress go on these fishing expeditions." Rethug pundits will call the committee complaints politically motivated witch hunting. Then the media will drop it.

14. I still think the GOP is scared of Clark

http://www.msnbc.com/news/968595.asp

TOUGH LOVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA
Another state, another love letter from the GOP to Wesley Clark. This time, they roll out veterans who are critical of Clark’s comments about President Bush and his leadership on 9/11. One veteran says, “”It is as simple as this: Wesley Clark should apologize or just get out. … To single out President Bush and blame him for the actions of a group of madmen is beneath any candidate. This is just shameful.” Using veterans as political propaganda? No doubt a strategic move to attack the general with mutinous remarks from the troops.

15. You Know, I Was Thinking the EXACT Same Thing
They don't want to give Clark (or any Democrat who follows his lead) an issue to beat Bush over the head with in the election, and IMO this stonewalling is a HUGE deal that the American public hates (or would hate, if they were made more aware of it).

16. NO NO NO! It's related to the Dems in the Senate Intelligence
Commitee threatening to work around a rule which would authorize them to do a second investigation, managed by Dems. The BFEE wants this to be handled by Republicans. The Dems on the Committee called their bluff, so now the Admin. is supposedly releasing docs. This is fishy. I hope the Dems on the Committee follow through.
