1. Not often pro-Democrats but nevertheless great is:
http://www.wsws.org

The World Socialist Website, they provide very insightful news and analysis that the mainstream media can't touch. Very reputable. But not always right in their messages, but then that's not appopriate here (I have serious issues with those people and their lack of support for an obvious socialist in the Democratic presidential race, not just lack of support but dumb-headed antagonism)....

And also http://www.kucinich.us is probably the best :)

4. I think these are pretty good.
www.alternet.org
www.commondreams.org (sometimes leans more Green)
www.ndol.org (sometimes leans too Republican)

www.tompaine.com - Probably the best of these
www.democratsforlife.org (had to throw that one in :) )

7. I know, but, every so often, it's hard to resist.
meanwhile........

http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/index.html

affiliated w/Mark Hertsgaard, I think, but has plenty of EXCELLENT links, on topics from the media, to pugs reconstructed, to a long excerpt from his fine book, "On Bended Knee," which catalogues the blueprint for RW handling of the media since Reagan

here:

"The biggest political joke in America is that we have a liberal press. It's a joke taken seriously by a surprisingly large number of people...The myth of the liberal press has served as a political weapon for conservative and right-wing forces eager to discourage critical coverage of government and corporate power ... Americans now have the worst of both worlds: a press that, at best, parrots the pronouncements of the powerful and, at worst, encourages people to be stupid with pseudo-news that illuminates nothing but the bottom line."
Mark Hertzgaard

" The range of debate between the dominant U.S. parties tends to closely resemble the range of debate within the business class. "
Robert McChesney

"The goal of conservative rulers around the world, led by those who occupy the seats of power in Washington, is the systematic rollback of democratic gains, public services, and common living standards around the world."
Michael Parenti

"The only thing worth globalizing is dissent."
Arundhati Roy

" The most unpardonable sin in society is independence of thought."
Emma Goldman

and what does this guy know about fascism:

"For the last fifty years we've been supporting right-wing governments, and that is a puzzlement to me...I don't understand what there is in the American character... that almost automatically, even when we have a liberal President, we support fascist dictatorships or are tolerant towards them."
William Shirer

They post great articles daily and have forums.

Also, www.theguyjamesshow.com has lots of info. The live show webcast is Sat. 3-6, but they have archived shows, too.
