Buying the Presidency

I think some might be interested in this.

I had no idea Kerry was worth that amount of money. I mean, I knew it was a lot, but that's amazing.

1. it's not really Kerry, but rather his wife, who has inherited most of it.

3. You're right...
His wife does account for much of it but he was still a multi-multi-multi-millionaire to the Nth degree without her.

2. That's why I always laugh when...
Kerry supporters bash Bush/Cheney as being "privledged rich kids". Kerry wasn't born with a Silver Spoon, it was platinum. In terms of being "under the influence" of big business, he's just as bad as the two boobs leading the country now.

5. Wealth is not always a bad thing
And doesn't make you lazy and stupid.

Didn't Kerry serve his country in a way that I have never and neither has Bush? I admire him and will never see his wealth as a problem.

Bush is the problem and his family's wealth is a springboard for much of their political success to our detriment.

6. You're right, of course.
I didn't intend to imply that it was automatically a problem. I just thought the figure was astounding, and the other information on the site may be of interest.

Cheers!

4. Most of that money is Teresa's
Kerry has a lot of money too, but probably not enough to bankroll a significant part of a presidential campaign. Kerry's campaign lawyers concluded earlier this year that Teresa's money could not be simply transferred to John and used to bankroll the campaign. However, if Teresa wants to pay for a television commercial on her husband's behalf--an independent expenditure--she is free to do so, although I'm not sure if she would be allowed to work in concert with the Kerry campaign to put it together. Campaign finance laws aere very complicated and I would rather not have the Kerry general election campaign begin with indictments and investigations.
