Two Types of Media Whores Last Week--Both Should be in Jail
I've been livid about two of our favorite whores and what I've seen over the last week or so. This isn't fun and games anymore. What they have done to the American people and the world is serious and people like these should have a special jail cell for the damage they do.

Heard Mike Barnacle rage about how the Iraq War was nothing more than doing it "because we could". Raging about how it was trumped up and spewing about no connections to 9/11 or terrorists, blah, blah. Said he's been in NH for a couple weeks and that he hasn't found one person who isn't shaking their head and asking why the hell we are over there, etc. Compared it to someone breaking into your home, killing your family; and a year later the police have done nothing but say they will arrest the guy down the street who keeps turning over garbage cans in the neighborhood---in other words, simply do it because it's easier and more convenient than finding the killer. (Oh, when he realized how badly he was raging, he shit on the Dems for criticizing Bush, etc.----apparently only great hard thinking good guys like him can do it!). The point here is that Barnacle was one of the slime balls who whored for this war, bullshitted the American people, called those who said this war was a lie "unpatriotic and traitors". Nice to spew how wrong it is after thousands have died. Then comes my other little friend---

Chris Matthews was always harping against getting into this war and that the pretense to go to war was garbage. Now he has all the proof he could want that it was a criminal filthy lie. Matthews was on Imus talking about how he feels for Bush and thinks he's great and is praying for him and all that crap. He's now packed his show with nothing but repukes (please don't watch him anymore). Think it could have something to do with him being appointed by NBC/MSNBC to be in charge of the whole election '04 politcal scene?? In other words, he's the point man to deliver Bush in '04 and literally has been picked to do so. You will NEVER hear him do anything but praise Bush and spit on the Dems from here to Nov. '04. Bottom line with him: How can this whore see in black and white the truth of this war that supports his initial fight against it and then stuff the money in his back pocket and go out and turn tricks for this administration!! Now with the proof he needed, he turns completely the other way and tries to bury that proof.

Both of these people and their ilk are scum. There is nothing different in what they do than what a rapist or a robber does. They need to be driven out of journalism.

1. it's tv
It's not journalism.

Small point, but anyone who's ever set foot inside a journalism school knows what I mean.

5. Where is the journalism school craft part of the mission statement?
In what media? In the US?

What US media corporation has the journalism school craft concepts as part of their mission statement - as more than window dressing?

Chris is to head the 2004 election coverage.

GE, and therefore Chris, will read that to mean he is to be a major suck up to the Bush administration, so as to not screw up "access" for GE media folks - be they lobbyist or "newsperson".

The paycheck bias toward the GOP will color all media coverage of the Dems - as it has for the past 24 years.

All those Dem reporters will fall into line if they want face time or air time or print inches.

6. Journalism schools ?
I seriously assumed that Journalism was no longer taught. Where did the the current batch of writers, editors come from? Could not have come from institutions the teach ethics. Is there a way to find out what school the writers and editors came from (exclude TV because those are actors not real jounalist). Then we could see which schools pretend to teach ethics and which schools actualley do.

2. Which Chris Matthews?
There are at least two, and neither one of them knows the other one exists. There's a moderate liberal Chris who writes columns that sound almost sensible. Then there is this screaming lunatic on TV. That one will advocate ANY viewpoint which will either a)enrage and confound the person he's talking to or b)embarrassingly, almost sexually cuddle up to the person like they're His Precious and demand to know all his intimate secrets.

Tweety is a one-man Carnivale.

Barnicle is just trash, who cares? It's only a sign of the intense and shameful mismangement allowed in our news stream.

3. Tweety will criticize Bush
but it will be fake, and it will never get to the heart of the matter, and it will be neutralized by the fact that 88% of Tweety's guests are right-wingers.

4. Complicity
The incredible part of this is that the public is complicite in the lie!

Few, with the exception of DUers, take the time to notice the flawed logic, the outright lies, and the obvious monetary conflicts that go into reporting of the news.

Just a few minutes ago, I caught a short segment on MSNBC regarding the chopper shoot-down. The "pretty boy" anchor finished off the story by putting the GOP spin on it, saying, "Of course, all this happened in an area still very loyal to Saddam and it doesn't reflect the rest of Iraq"...(note: quote isn't exact but suitably paraphrased)

GOP control of the media is almost complete. They just have to get the rest of those pesky NPR reporters who haven't read the memo in line and their control will be complete.

Now about that pesky internet..............

7. There is no media or journalism anymore.
It's Triumph of the Will. Entertainment and propaganda. The US ranks 31st in the world for freedom of the media... and that's according to the people in the media... many of us know that it's even worse than that. Turn away, it's very ugly.
