1. For the sixth straight year, the GAO was unable to render an opinion
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 08:15 PM by jmcgowanjm
The Comptroller General described the
financial management problems at DOD
as "pervasive, complex, long-standing,
and deeply rooted in virtually all business
operations throughout the department."
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld
has placed a great emphasis on improving
financial performance at DOD. However,
until DOD solves their financial problems
and receives a clean opinion, the entire
Federal government's financial statement
will continue to be unreliable.

2. Congressman Hilleary was aware that there was $3.3T missing
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 08:17 PM by jmcgowanjm
Congressman Hilleary confirmed that he was aware that there was $3.3 trillion missing at the DOD and HUD.

It is time to insist that all government
contract budgets and contracts be fully
disclosed and web accessible so that
we can see whether the same corporations
and banks that have devastated private savings
are also responsible for raiding our
public assets and savings and failing to
perform on their contracts.

OOh, don't let NYAG Spitzer see this.

4. Thank Goodness Clark Is Aiming To Cut Pentagon Funding
3.3 Trillion is NOT guys skimming money off to buy golf shoes in every color and yachts to match!

America's GDP is $10 Trillion... so the DOD lost about 1/3 of our country's purchasing power.

What did they do with it?

What did Ken Lay do with all that money?

What are they funding covertly?

5. And as I could say 100 times a day,

where is the outrage???

A story like this, one thinks, should generate bipartisan horror.

On the other hand, a story like this, since it predates the Bush White House, probably has a good measure of bipartisan malfeasance.

6. 87 billion is probably only one year's interest on 3.3 trillion
how many houses could we build?
how much alternative energy could we research?
how many childern could we feed?
how much money could we send to the poor around the world?
This number is so huge-it makes me want to hurl
