"Jesse Jackson is a racist."-countless conservatives
What are your thoughts on this? I know little about him. Is there any evidence to counter the conservative argument that he is a racist? Besides his anti-Semitic remark in 1984 has he done anything else that is racist?

for pointing out gop racism and institutional bigotry. they throw out that dreck birthed in the era of o.j. that he's 'playing the race card' simply because he talks about racial issues and points out bad shit that they do

2. Define "racist" for the purpose of your question
and give an example of one of the "countless" conservative arguments that JJ is a racist. Then we'll have have a basis for discussion.

3. They don't argue he's racist
They just assert it.

I define a racist as someone who discriminates based on race.

9. Post about him at a conservative site
Conservative talking heads like Rush and Sean insinuate that he is a racist; the average conservative believes it. Post about him at FR and I bet he'll be called a racist in half the replies.

4. They'd be saying the same thing about MLK if he were alive.
In fact, they still disparage him anyway.

5. god...do they ever!!!
i ran across a rw site devoted exclusively to disparging dr. king. i believe o'reilly and faux claim jackson is a racist...this is probably what they are repeating. it's been a talking point for some time now...black racism, the new improved, racism. a great way to deflect discussion about the other racism they all know...and love.

8. I got over the "Himeytown" comment years ago
Jesse Jackson is a racist
War is peace
Meanwhile the RR is calling me antisemetic. What fucking nerve.

They have coopted every bit of moral righteousness and turned it on its end - trivializing it to the point where it means absolutely nothing.

Highly functioning sociopaths - every last one of 'em.

12. Incidently
it was Jesse Jackson Jr.--Jesse's son who endorsed Dean. Jesse Jr is a respected progressive.

I have noticed some confusion about this already and thought someone should mention it.
