At Grocery Store & Notice The Top Seller Book Display...MIA
every liberal title including #1, #2 Franken & Moore - in their place however are Bill O'Really and Barbara Bush, then a bunch of mushy Sidney Sheldon type books.

Hillary is there, I figure they had no choice but to put her's up.

So I say to the manager on duty that I've noticed that there has not been any of the top selling liberal books on display for the past few of months. I tell him, I can name the titles of the NYT's & Local Best sellers, and the ones on display claiming to be the top sellers ain't them. Locally in Denver, Moore (2 books), Franken, Ivins are all in top 10.

He slimes out of it by saying that this place called "Anderson News" stocks the books and they choose the books.

I point out to the manager that this store is in "liberal Denver" - not Tom Tancredo's district, and it looks as if King Soopers like Walmart is pushing the GOP agenda by only carrying right-wing author books. He shrugs his soldiers, I'm sure he doesn't even notice or care.

Nothing will change at King Soopers...like CBS they let the right-wing rule them too.

10. I Wouldn't Buy A Book At KS
we have the best independent book store in the country "Tattered Cover" - it was just something I noticed over the past few months and had to rant.

2. Good on you for bringing it to their attention.
The manager should care or either he is a conservative and don't want to care.

3. EXACTLY the same scenerio last night at Fred Meyer -

In Ellensburg Washington.

I was actually thinking about making a post about it. On display were books by O'Really, Coulter, Hannity - and some really putrid Bush books (not written BY him, obviously) - one about he and his wife, one about the "real" story of Iraq (what a wonderful, amazing, and all around spectacular dude Bush is and the behind the scenes REAL story about how he's even GREATER than we all already think re: Iraq), I think there was one called "Bring them On" - also about how wonderful Bush is. There were others - but those were the only ones I could remember before being struck temporarily blind from nausea.

Way, way, way down in the very bottom left there were a couple of Hillary's books. I went in search of other books - more to MY liking. Nothing. Or so I thought. On another display, in the far right corner, none facing out, were 3 copies of The Best Democracy Money Can Buy. I was broke and didn't need to be spending money, but I've been wanting to read it anyway, and wanted to score a sale for Palast to show out of the huge array of paper bound right wing puke-fests - even with only a couple of liberal books to choose from - someone picked the liberal one.

I took the 2 remaining copies and used them to cover the smirking faces of Coulter and Bush on the main display.

I was seriously disturbed about that.

Now I'm well into Palast's book and I'm even more disturbed.

5. I noticed the same thing
it the Fred Meyer Stores in Vancouver Wa, too. Coulter's books, that stupid "Bush at War", and the other conservative books were all they had up. Last time I was in one, they did have Franken's new one on sale, though.

7. Big surprise today...
..at Sam's Club. They had Michael Moore's book and Al Franken's book. I was amazed. Stupid White Men never made it there.

Hillary's book was there, but their usual political fare is O'Reilly and Coulter.

9. It's Kings or Safeway - not much choice
and Safeway gives mega bucks to GOP & Bush. Kings is actually a better store, vs Safeway. Hate Safeway -

soon however new store opening up Sunflower Market practically next door to KS - organic foods/silly prices - modeled after Trader Joe's in CA. Can't wait!

11. The latest "The-end-of-the-world-is-coming; Save-me-Jesus" book is feature
near the check-outs at my local Kroger store.

I don't recall the author's name, but it's the fundie guy who has a whole series of these novels to his credit.

12. the supermarket manager is telling the truth
Anderson merchandisers is a books and mag distributor that supplies a large variety of supermarkets and book stalls across the country. Anderson decides what to distribute. The supermarkets don't have anything to do with the choices or the displays -- they leave that decision to their supplier, Anderson. So you can't really blame Kroger, etc. They're probably more focused on the tomatoes.

13. I was at Walmart
the other day and was looking for GQ magazine. They had I would estimate about 75 different mags but no GQ. I asked for it and was told they're "not allowed" to carry it. I didn't get any explanation but what could be wrong with GQ?
