No elections. Really. In order to get their propositions through the Texas Repubs put them on a special ballot in September.

Two seats open...five running.
Good ol'boy State Rep, ex-State Police Sgt, member of all the right groups and current Council Chair is almost a shoe-in for re-election.
Two others are local paper mill workers, with no prior experience in local gov.
Third is a woman who is a single issue candidate (Rec Dept). She applied for the Rec Director's job, didn't get it, so she's getting on the TC for "make sure the Recreation Department is running right".
Then there's me: 7 years prior experience on the Council (3 as Chair). I left 5 years ago when my last term was up. But got talked into running this year.
So far the signs are positive......got a lot of "good luck" and "Well, I'll vote for ya" when I was out and about today.
Plus my "campaign manager" is the Town Clerk (she's the one who talked me into running).

Alabama has the screwiest election laws I've ever heard of. It seems like municipal elections can be held pretty much any time; Auburn's used to be held when the students weren't around to affect the outcome. Of course we had that disastrous referendum in September, of which nothing more should be said.
So tomorrow's just another Tuesday.
