Hypothetical situation
Hmmm, this hit me in a dream. Or maybe nightmare.

We lose the 2004 election and we lose the ability to filibuster in the senate and we get beat down, bad. I'm not concerned with who gets beat down, just that we get beat down.

Ok, come 2008 and lets say that 20 million people are unemployed and tons of people are dead in numerous wars and abortion is outlawed and gays are outlawed and the official religion of this nation is evengelicalism (not sure if that's even a religion, but it works). Life really sucks, more than now. Much more.

Bear with me, 2008 rolls 'round and this nation is gone to hell in a big way. We can run anyone we like and we'd be in control. Win back the Congress too. And we'd stay in control for a long time. I'd be like the 1932 election all over again. And we'd have a coalition stronger than the New Deal one that lasted till 1968.

That's what we can look forward to if we lose. We can't lose, but if (God forbid) we do, the Republicans will be discredited for a long time when America goes to hell and we (somehow) bring it back.

Thanks for reading.

1. I think that is a nightmare
What a horrible 4 years.

The problem, of course, is that it would take many many many more years to undo the damage that could be done by another Bush administration.

3. come 2008, in that scenario
there will no longer be elections, so we will either be the docile sheep we are today and just happy to check out the new season's reality shows, or we'll be the "Iraqis" throwing rocks at the "coalition" tanks.
