GRRR ....WHy I am pissed at The New Republic.

GRRRRR.....For any of you saw Andy Rooney's performance last night on 60 minutes, you probably noticed that he did a pretty good job. He talked about how President Bush lied about Iraq and you know the rest.

Anyhow, Andrew Sullivan, who is a shamed homosexual that doesn't believe in hate crime laws and criticizes other homosexuals quite frequently (you can see his hypocrisy here ), took the displeasure of doing an unfair deconstruction of Andy Rooney here .

I think that Mr. Sullivan's response to Mr. Rooney is both shallow, personal, and condescending.

The New Republic used to be a great magazine. However, it journalistic integrity is highly questionable now. They wrote an article today talking about journalism in America, but they miss the point that they are contributors to the propoganda machine ( You can click here You have to click on the article from its main page) The article is written by Jonathan Chait, who wrote the recent Bush bashing article, however, he is also the newest neo-con that supported the war against Iraq (hypocrite anyone???)

The New Republic doesn't deserve to call itself a liberal magazine. If anything, they are right of center.

To find some good ole' liberal magazines, you can read The Nation or Mother Jones.

And they also do a rating system. Who is their latest winner? That's right. Good neo-conservative Joe Liberman. You can see the results here

3. Shallow, Personal and Condescending...
You just described the posterboy for personal irresponsibility, Bareback Andy, down to the ground.

Under the word "vapid" in the dictionary...

4. I am very fond of Stay Free! magazine
which isn't really blatantly political; it's more concerned with the meta-politics of thought. Its main focus is the various means by which the public's beliefs are shaped: advertising, propaganda, etc., although it does have a stance that those who resist such efforts at mind control will find very friendly. I highly recommend it.

5. TNR was once a pretty good magazine.
But that was before they brought in Sully and Mike Kelly to ruin it.

I let my subscription lapse over ten years ago and haven't missed it a bit.

7. Locking.

Please see rule #2 here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=463744

2. The subject line of a discussion thread and the entire text of the message which starts the thread may not include profanity, excessive capitalization, or excessive punctuation. Inflammatory rhetoric should also be avoided.

Also, please see Skinner's comments in ATA:

But I checked the dictionary and it does indicate that piss is "Vulgar Slang". The moderators do have the authority to shut it down.

I don't think it's very difficult to re-post without the profanity.

8. defense/foriegn policy is almost never a liberal/conservative issue
at least it shouldn't be. The people on the hard left and hard right who see everything in and with ideological/ left-right labels have made the Iraq war into it.

TNR first of all isn't edited by Andrew Sullivan, although it once was. It is alot more interventionist in foriegn policy and alot more moderate in politics than most of the major driving forces in the anti-war movement. But TNR is a hell of alot closer to the Kennedy-Truman type of democrat than the Marxist-Leninists at internationalanswer.
