No alcohol sales today in KY while polls are open |
|
Strange but true.
Goes back to an old law from the turn of the century when politicians used to buy drinks for votes and voters could vote in pubs.
If you think you smell a Republican governorship coming in Kentucky...you'll have to wait 'til 6:00 pm to inebriate yourself.

... W.C. Fields once said when accosted by a temperance lady, "Drown in a barrel of whisky? Death, where is thy sting?"

forbid liquor sales on election day. It apparently dates back to the days when votes could be bought for a few drinks, and in some cases drunken voters were driven from polling place to polling place to cast their multiple votes.
Personally, I feel that for those who consume alcohol, election day is the one dy you need to drink. If your candidate loses, you want to drown your sorrows, if candidate wins, then celebration is in order.

5. Same way in Indiana... |

They'd rather the country know we're stupid than give us the benefit of thinking we might have been drunk....
No election here today. No opposed races in my part of the county.
If that's not good enough reason to get drunk, I don't know what is....
