10. yeah i can see the headlines
Presidential candidate George W bush won every state in the electoral college after recieveing a mere 5,000 votes nationwide, in related news the machines used to vote in the electoral college worked pretty darn fast as Diebold employees made sure thier machines ran smoothly

2. November 2, 2004
to be exact.
spread the word. spray paint the date on viaduct walls if you have to. register people to vote at bus stops. publish and post voting places, instructions on how to vote, etc.
if there are many more of us voting next nov 2nd, they can't cheat.

3. Talk to everyone
especially the young, the unemployed, the ones who haven't voted before. This is the only way we can take our country back.

Whoever gets the Democratic nod MUST appeal to the grassroots, MUST let folks know that their support is needed. If we get a nominee who just takes money from Big Business, a lot of people will see it as the same old same old, and not vote, and our country will be lost!

5. whatever happened to the league of women voters?
back in the day, they came to my high school with voting machines and taught us how to register, how to read a ballot, and how to vote. they set up shop in the gym, and we used their machines (with the curtains) for our class officer elections.

now they host cookie parties, which they call 'meet the candidates forums,' and do very little else. they don't seem interested in teaching young people about the process any longer.

7. The League doesn't have a very high membership anymore
it used to be filled with women and men but like many organizations it has greyed ...with no young people to help.

It is also a non-partisan organization which is okay for some but as a former member I couldn't take it anymore not with what the Bush Cabal has been doing.

9. Never mind the Hague! How about the US Supreme Court?
Some truly disgusting evidence about his involvement in the failed bank BCCI is up for scrutiny before the UK High Court in January in a class action brought about by UK creditors against the banking regulator Bank of England. It shows how Thatcher abused her priviledged position to gag evidence of his involvement and connection to BCCI as well as the failed Banco Ambrosiano in 1982. Look in Gen Disc under 'bin laden money trail leads to Midland Texas' octafish's post.

Since '97 Poodle tried desperately to gag and stall this case ever coming to court but the creditors finally won an appeal this year to have the full testimony heard in open court without reporting restrictions.

Once the UK civil courts have given this one a good airing (just in time for the 2004 campaign to begin!) criminal charges are bound to follow.

14. I don't think it will be that easy
And I don't really like the attitude of blind optimism if for no other reason than a little thing called tempting fate.

But I also think its shameful to underestimate the Bush team or believe the lie that they are all idiots and don't know what they are doing. They don't know what they are doing so much, that they managed to undermine a democratic election in 2000, push forward the most aggressive and sweeping legislation undoing years of positive gains without anyone bating and eye, continued to dupe the American public into support for months and months and moths past any kind of reasonability, and on top of that, the opposition party in November has YET to really push forward political frontrunners for the nomination and are instead to busy fighting with each other to start the process of aggressively fighting Bush (which requires a lot more than just making critical speeches.)

So rather than dripping over-confidence at every turn, I would prefer it if we at Democratic Underground would rally together and gear ourselves up for a long, hard, no - brutal, fight which we may in fact lose. But if we do lose the fight for 2004, at least it doesn't have to be because we were so cocky and overconfident that Bush waltzed right past us while we were busy throwing our "victory" party.
