Vote Today!! Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Virginia--your state?
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 09:33 AM by jchild
I'm in Mississippi, where we are voting on governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state treasurer, attorney general, and other statewide offices.

The two most important elections are:

1) Incumbent Democratic governor Ronnie Musgrove faces of with RNC bigwhig and lobbyist Haley Barbour. Four years ago, neither Musgrove nor Republican Mike Parker got the majority, and the election was decided in the legislature. Many expect this race to be just as close.

2) Former Democrat, now Republican incumbent lt. governor Amy Tuck is facing off with Barbara Blackmon, the first African American woman to seek the office in the state's history. Tuck was elected four years ago as a Democrat, and then had a revelation that she was actually a Republican and she jumped parties. TRAITOR! It will be interesting to see how this race plays out.

Tell us about elections in your state. Tonight, let's all get together and discuss results as they pour in.

1. Virginia state wide election
In Northern Va we have an intesting campaign between two candidates - one of whom is for banning books from the school system, and whose entire platform seems to be claiming that her opponent will raise taxes.

Guess which party she is from?

3. Go figure...
Let us know how it goes...let's all check in tonight!

Television commentators say that in the states in which Bush has campaigned heavily, he will be looking at Republican wins as mandates for himself.

So let's oust Repubs and support our Dem candidates!!! Send a message to Washington.

2. Baldwin County, Alabama
As far as I know, only one thing on the ballot.
Alcohol sales on Sunday: yes or no?
It'll probably fail (again), but we're only 20 minutes from Florida.

6. Michigan...St. Clair Shores. Mayor and 2 council seats.
There is a whole lot of crookery going on here on the part of the council members, and they are trying to drag a good mayor down. Grrrr. They are endorsed by a state rep who was indicted for stalking of all things. Can things get any more disgusting???

7. Kentucky voter
I'll be voting a straight ticket, and I don't do that always - because there's usually a detestable person running for some obscure office.
I really think the Dems have a better chance in the MS gubernatorial race than we in KY do, but I'm holding out hope of a */economy backlash.

Patton has literally screwed the Dem Party in the Bluegrass State. To be impartial, he probably stole his first election anyway; just couldn't get a jury in the Cap. city to convict. Those earlier contested races for Patton were sure signs of the voters of KY turning incrementally toward the other party - which we traditionally do only in the national races.

Today I'm a yellow dog from Kentucky's Fifth district - southeast KY.

...O....
