Because he wants to balance things out. He likes to keep it balanced.

1. What a...
You know, I initially hated Stern. Like most people, it was before I knew anything about him. The first thing I saw, even before listening to the radio program, was Private Parts. One of the funniest damn movies I'd ever seen. I thought I owed his show at least a listen.

Honestly, it is basically high-school boy humor. Period. Those who try to over-analyze it are missing the point. Stern is a bit too close to the Limbaughvian style of politics, in that he makes premises and assumptions based purely on emotions, and rarely takes facts into account. This appeals to a very broad audience, largely those with a limited education or life experience. Stern and Limbaugh and surprisingly similar.

But, what pisses me off about Stern saying this now, is that he is part of the reason things need to be balanced out. Since day one, he's been an advocate of "Bush can do no wrong" and "we need to blow up all the towel-heads" and whipping his testosterone crazed minions into a frenzy, with little or no background into what he is advocating.

Now, he is seeing the result of this irresponsible pandering, and wants everyone to vote dem.

I agree, Howard, everyone SHOULD vote dem. But will you now stop calling for the blowing up of all the towelheads, or do you want it both ways? Republican war-mongering to satiate the blood-lust of the teen boy crowd, with responsible democrat leadership writing the laws and keeping the pubs in check. Can't have both...because if a dem happens to slither from the ooze long enough to evolve a spine, he won't be voting to allow the warmongering to continue.

Howard, Howard, Howard...your schtick wears thin. You're pandering, dude.

3. Oh man, Howard Stern is gonna be so pissed when he reads that!
And the way you write "Howard, Howard, Howard" at the end is really gonna cut him down to size!

8. Um...
Okay, so I have to assume the "cut him down to size" remark was sarcastic. I wasn't trying to do cut him down to size. He is great marketer for his schtick, but it is a niche market. A very large niche market, exacly as Limbaugh's show is. His rabid supporters will support him no matter what, and his detractors will detract. I am neither. I enjoy listening to Howard's show. And when he starts getting into the over-the-top stuff that I don't care to listen to, I know how to operate my cd player, or switch stations.

I occasionally listen to Limbaugh, too, just to see where the "other side" is getting its information. I think that is very, very important...you can't just say you don't like something without background into what you're talking about, and I find that Howard's positions seem closely aligned with those of the Wal Mart Nation, those who tell pollsters that Saddam was involved with 9/11. I think he gets his info from the headllines, and nowhere else, and therefore his positions are understandable.

Hell, if researching my own web page involved strippers and breast checks every day, I'd proabably find it equally difficult to apply much of my attention to political research. There is no faulting Howard for that...his show isn't about politics. Which just brings me back to the point; if he wants to start calling for the dems to balance things out, he needs to stop pandering to the base elements of his audience, those parts which are highly emotionally driven, not driven by critical thinking.

But then, it wouldn't be the Howard Stern show anymore.

I feel your pain, Howard. I really do.

4. I agree, I was so disappointed in him after
9/11, the way he was screaming for us to just drop a bomb on the entire Middle East, except for Israel (how the hell we'd do that I've never been able to figure out!), and the for deportation of all of the "towelheads", even legals, etc., etc. Then he said a few months ago that "we aren't doing enough over there to show the world and those damn towelheads we mean business", when I don't know what the hell else is it we're supposed to do!

moderate on everything else ... doesn't really have a problem with social programs to help the poor in general, but feels there's too much gov't watse

he's big on accountability and the checks and balances that the two parties SHOULD be giving one another (should because of all the DINOs screwing things up) appeals to him

6. Actually, his sidekick Robin
is pretty feminist herself and manages to keep him in check some of the time.

9. You mean Jenna Jameson isn't a feminist?
Didn't you know it is empowering for women to be filmed naked on their hands and knees while Howard and Crew toss Baloney slices on her buttocks so he can later show it on the E-Channel?

7. He's pro-choice
In '92, he said if a woman votes for Bush #41, they might as well mail their vagina to the White House.

He seems to be middle of the road. To the right on certain issues, left on others. Love him or hate him, he just speaks his mind.
