2. It Kind Convoluted, The Way They Asked the Question
If you want it to be shown, you have to answer "No".

The results right now:

The Reagan movie: Should it never air?

462 responses

Yes - 46%
No - 54%

11. It was deliberately confusing
..the kind of question that they think confused people will answer the way they want it to. It's the way political poll questions dedicated to giving a predictable answer are asked.

4. The question is 'should it NEVER air'?
Bad phrasing of the question. I misread it and voted for the wrong side. :grr:

Look how this thread is titled.

edit- NOT that the thread author intended it to be misleading. Maybe they caught it in voting. The msnbc ? is a screwy double negative.

6. I was thinking that I wouldn't watch it even if it did air.
Just like I don't want to see any repug on TV I doubt I would want to watch a saint ronnie movie either.

At present time there isn't a ice cube's chance in hell that current history will tell the truth about him or his administration.

I remember when he was elected and I worked at a CPA firm. Everyone I worked with was sure Bush was running things because Reagan couldn't be smart enough to be President.

The right wing needs their mythology and they can create it on demand.

7. Notice how deceptive the question is....it's phrased in the negative...
Very poor - the question reads "Should the Reagan movie NEVER air?" when to be best understood, it should read simply, "Should the Reagan movie air?"

8. I'm sure this was done intentionally
The more I hear the conservatives ranting about this, the more I'm convinced the movie must be pretty accurate.

Why didn't they outrage about "The Day Reagan Was Shot"? Although it didn't necessarily make Reagan himself look bad, it certainly made everyone else in that administration look pretty awful.

14. Twisted language and CBS has pulled the series!
I've seen it over and over and over, I have even written to them to complain about it. This is part of the Rovian technique to manipulate through language. Then they can go to their people and say, "See??? Most people do not want this movie aired."

I don't even bother voting on this poll anymore.

CBS, the Cowardly Broadcasting Service, has canceled the series, sliding it over to Showtime, for fear of Republicannibal boycotting. Are we living in a state-run country or what? http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/04/business/media/04film.html?hp

16. Look at the question!
The question is, "should it NEVER air?" That means a YES vote is for censorship and a NO vote is for free expression!

I wonder how many people voted YES thinking it was a yes for showing the movie!

GRRRRR!

19. Did anyone send in their comments regarding the question of the day?
I stated it would be a shame if CBS caved into the demands of the republican right and attempted to re-write history in order to appease "those in power". It would further show there is no such thing as "free press". If everything has to seek approval from republican picked critics before being aired, what is the point?

20. In their question, did they mean it should not be shown ....
on ShowTime either? It should "never" be shown anywhere? Is it a backsided attempt to get the same pressure on the ShowTime channel tht they put on CBS?

21. The phrasing of that question was downright dishonest
as was (and is) about 90% of the media coverage about Reagan, his policies and the shameful legacy that they left.

23. If it's a love letter to Reagan, it should never air
I wrote a Rant about this subject when the Repugs were planning to demand CBS allow them to review the miniseries. I'll make jmowreader post it later tonight.

It contains such fair and balanced phrases as "Ronald Reagan was such a slimy piece of shit they have to issue calked boots to visitors to the Reagan Presidential Library so they don't fall on their asses."

They will never do a true accounting of the Reagan era because if they did, someone would shell Kennebunkport and freepers all across America would die of apoplexy. But if all that's in the movie is Ron the loving parent, Ron the faithful husband, Ron the fabulous actor, Ron the heroic president, then no, it should never air.

24. My response to MSNBC
"So the Reagan movie is somewhat embellished - big deal. It is certainly no more fictitious than the "DC 9/11" movie that aired two months."

And could they make the question more misleading? Should it never air? What's wrong with being straight forward and asking "Should it air." How many people will just click on the wrong response because you almost expect to see "Should it air" when you go to the site to chime in.

26. Heads I win, tails you lose????
That has to be far and away the most STUPIDLY worded internet poll question I've ever seen--and it's a pretty damn competitive field, lemme tell you.

My email to MSNBC:

"Should it NEVER air"??? My goodness, what confusing wording. Does a No vote mean No it should never air, or No it should NOT never air? And does that mean you think it SHOULD air? Or Yes, it should never air? Heads I win, tails you lose--isn't that what we've got here?

I realize these polls are scientifically meaningless, but at least the question should make SENSE, don't you think?
