1. Dunno what happened
Dean started to get the crowd to warm up to him more with comments on Nixon and teaching. I hope he gets a couple more chances to build on the last two questions.

I think the Democratic nominee, whoever it is, should take note here. I think people like CMB and Kucinich have a thing called vision. The other candidates have vision also, however, theirs is very apparent.

And perhaps Kerry deserves more speaking time.

44. What's to apologize for?
What annoys me is that Dean didn't point out that he was using imagery. It was metaphorical. He wasn't making a broad statement about white rural southerners. It was a NON comment, and he should have pointed that out.

And he should have pointed out that no one spoke up when he said the same thing seven times in four days a few months ago. This is BS, political red herring. Not a single one of those ________ that ganged up on him addressed a single issue on his platform.

And no one, even here, is mentioning that.

It's kind of a problem we've been having in the White House lately.

It was a poor choice of words on Dean's part. 'Confederate flag' means the same thing as 'white sheet' to many folks. He stumbled, no big deal, but when other candidates take the opening he gave them, blame Dean.

Sharpton explained why from the black perspective; Edwards did it from the Southern white perspective. What was he supposed to do, pretend he didn't believe what he does? Dean had his chance to eat a little crow early or a lot now; he made his choice.

that this is a non issue. No one is talking about his platform. It all will just get dismissed as a pile-on by the others.

Which is a shame, because policies could be discussed in that forum. But apparently everyone was too busy trying to dig up dirt on him to realize that all of his positions are clearly posted on his website.

But, at any rate, they are pandering to my peeps! Hu ya! They feel more real, or at least they feel different! It feels good!

But there is no right to express that love or that committment to service in the military. Just like there is no right to be a cop or fireman for example.

Oh, I LIKE Clark! Good answer on gay rights! Touching.

112. Kerry's answer on this annoyed me
because the audience memeber--who was very cute--was asking about things like SSI and immigration issues, which marriage could offer, but Kerry went into his schpiel about civil rights, etc., which does not really answer the question.

To be fair, Clark was only nominally better, but the issues he asked, which were about sweeeping federal powers related to marriage, needed to be addressed more specifically.

that is why he is 50,000 times better than Howard Dean.

Kucinich is rocking the boat.
