This might sound like puffery, but seriously...if there are 9 SC Justices,
why can't we have a 9-member Presidency. I'm watching the "debate" tonight and I don't exactly love any of them but I sure don't despise any of them either. And of course I understand the enormity of the Constitutional change that would be required to achieve something like a "national council" (in a way, similar to what seems to work fairly well in many large cities - some of which are larger populations and economies than lots of nations) that would function as a more representative coalition (I know, I don't like the word much, but) of the Executive Branch.

My reasoning comes from the undeniable fact that the Executive has become disproportionally powerful since W was appointed.

I guess what I'm asking (and I'm just spiffballing here) is this: does my proposal violate anything in the -spirit- of the Constitution?

And as I conclude this little epistle, I'm watching Dennis Kucinich raising a little hell. Good on you, Dennis. (But I still do not think he can be elected.)

Anybody wanna jump in, please do.
;-)

1. Another committee trying to run this country?
What is needed is an honest government, beholden to the will and the welfair of the people.

3. I certainly would never disagree with that...the question is how do we
get an "honest" government? The Legislative branch is supposed to accomplish that, but it seems to have abdicated its constitutional mandate. I am not willing to let Bush have more power than 535 members of congress, even as they have let the sonofabitch have it.

My point, admittedly one with little practical chance of acceptance, is just (I have totally lost it, having just seen Ann Coulter on TV, and I need to run outside and terrorize the neighborhood.) Where's my .357 when I need it? :grr: :grr: :grr:

4. the will and welfare of WHICH people?
* has definitely been beholden to the will and welfare of his "people".

The presidency has grown to be too big and too complex for one man-
I'd like to see some type of system where we'd have a domestic issues person, and a seperate foriegn issues person...both with equal power.

2. Personally,
I wish we could elect the President and Vice-President separately. In '88 we would have had a Bush-Bentsen presidency for sure.

5. Supreme Court was made to be
deliberative. They can hear a case, talk it over, mull it over for months, and then issue a compromise ruling. The Michigan affirmative action case would be an example.

The president on the other hand is the one person who must make decisions sometimes quickly. Sometimes there aren't months to reach consensus before the president must make a decision.
