2. Dean, Kerry, Clark
To break down my personal preferences percentage-wise:

Dean 38%
Kerry 37% (I'm virtually undecided here, micro edge to Dean!)
Clark 25%

I'm really not interested in the rest.

I hope that when we win the Whitehouse, there's a cabinet position for Kucinich, Sharpton and Mosely-Braun... They have some very good points, but unfortunatly, I don't think they have a chance of getting the nod.

37. Yeah it is
Especially when not taking electability into account. So I am going to make two lists, first who I think would make the best candidate and then who I personally like (as in I would want to be their friend...or "party with them" as it were).

Best candidates:
1. Clark

That's right, Clarkies, it is your man. I studied the man intensely tonight and he gave me the impression of a guy that really does care. Maybe not a flaming liberal, but leftist enough for me when you consider how split the country is these days.

2. Dean

I like him, and he may still regain #1. I thought his talk of the civil unions was a little ludicrous though since the Vermont Supreme Court mandated it. Its not like he did it out of the goodness of his heart.

3. Edwards

Could move up. He was personable and charismatic tonight. Isn't a polished politician (that is half the reason I like him anyway!), but he is quite Kennedy-esque in many ways.

4. Kerry

I thought he was a condescending asshole after the last debate. Tonight he came across MUCH better. I like his policies and his record on them, but he just smacks a little too much of "elitist liberal" to me. (And I am one as well, to be honest, so take that as you will)

5. Kucinich

I really liked his comments on the economy, especially since he DIDN'T TALK ABOUT REPEALING NAFTA TONIGHT (anyone else notice that?). I know there are bad things about NAFTA, but I also know the 90's was a booming economy. Could be a coincidence, but I think not.

6. Leiberman

I've come to like him more of late. I don't think I will even refer to him derisively as "Holy Joe" anymore if he keeps it up.

7. Gephardt

A political dinosaur. I thought it odd he wasn't at this debate since he did so well at the last one, but I think he probably knew that the 20 something crowd is NOT his audience.

8. Moseley-Braun

I really like her, and she has a lot of good stuff to say. I guess the bottom line is that she could never win, and even though this isn't supposed to take electability into account, it is just such a HUGE minus for her I can't help it.

9. Sharpton

I don't agree with him on a lot of issues. For example, that of affirmative action. Dean said it ought to be based on economics and I agree with that. Blacks would STILL get a leg up (since they are economically disadvantaged), but it would take race out of the equation. You can't become a truly color-blind society with racial politics.

Candidates ranked by likability:

1. Moseley Braun: I just laughed it up at the question of who you would want to party with. Is there any other option than Moseley-Braun? She would be hillarious. Plus, I just really like the woman. She is smart, well spoken, and she's got one heck of a bleeding heart.

2. Edwards: Seems like a good guy. Got kudos for admitting to drug use, even if it might bite him in the ass later.

3. Kucinich: I can really identify with his passion for doing the right thing. As I 22 year old, I was moved by his speech about following your dreams to the White House. Really inspired me.

4. Clark: Seems affable and warm.

5. Gephardt: The old guard, but he has worked a long time to do right by Americans.

6. Dean: In the debates, his personality kind of turns me off. I think his head might have gotten a little too big by being the front runner.

7. Lieberman: Too conservative for my liking, but like I said, I have come around a bit on him lately.

8. Kerry: Memories of the last debate linger. He will have to prove that he won't "talk down" to people.

9. Sharpton: I used to like him, but some stuff (like slamming Dean on the Confederate flag) has pissed me off. As far as the confederate flag goes, Sharpton knows DAMN well Dean was not implying that Democrats should pander to racists. He just wanted to make a scene, which he certainly does well.

43. Ranking of Candidates' Average Rankings
Edited on Wed Nov-05-03 12:48 AM by elperromagico
Here are the candidates listed based on their average
rankings. I did this when only 31 people had listed their
favorites, so it might be outdated:

1. John Kerry 2.94
2. Wesley Clark/John Edwards (tie) 3.03
3. Howard Dean 3.52
4. Dennis Kucinich 3.94

27. Ouch, this is tough.
I make my primary choice with the assumption that any of the nine candidates would be a fine replacement, especially compared to the Chimp. Given this assumption, my choice comes-down to electability. Which leads me to the choice I must eventually make. Dean could bring a bunch of new people to the polls, but Clark could appeal to voters that we know will most likely show-up.

So..
1 & 2 --> Dean & Clark, in no particular order. If early primaries are swamped, then we'll know that Dean is onto something.
3 --> Gephardt, if only for his ability to most probably bring Missouri's 11EVs into our column.
4 --> Edwards, who has a less chance of bringing-aboard his own state.
5 & below --> doesn't really matter to me.

My top five choices almost don't matter to me, as any of them would be acceptable and have a good chance at winning the whole thing.

I think that Sharpton, Kucinich, and Mosley-Braun are fighting the good fight and raising issues that need to be raised, but none of them will win either the nomination or the general election for a variety of reasons.

Joe Lieberman can just go suck it.

I have really become a Mosely-Braun fan. This lady is fantastic. She's had great appearances in every debate and she speaks with the voice of reason. Is it out of the question to propose a Clark/Mosely-Braun ticket?

52. Clark is first.....
1.) Clark (for obvious reasons)
2.) Dean (because I find his candidacy interesting)
3.) Kerry (all around solid politician)
4.) Sharpton (has the spirit and fire to carry the torch)
5.) Carol Mosely Braun (she seems kind)
7.) Kucinich (understands that we need revolutionary change)
8.) Gephardt (another ok politician)-- but he turned his
back on us when standing in the Rose Garden.
9.) Lieberman (too sanctimonious with an odd brand of
subjective moralism that smacks of RW fundamentalist)
-- he is also a Rose Garden stooge.
