If Congress legalizes Civil Unions, will it become the new target of freep |
|
This just popped in my head.
During 1970s, the Supreme Court basically said that abortion was the right to every woman who deserved it. Nobody really challenged it until the 1990s when the it was "in" to be a right-wing conservative. That has been on their mind ever since they took back the Congress in 1994. They are finally going to get that dream become a reality today when President Bush signs the bill criminalizing partial-birth abortions.
What do I think? It will probably be overturned. However, they have literally been frothing at the mouth at this for decades.
Now, let's say this upcoming decade, liberal thinking becomes the newest fad and they pass new legislation allowing for domestic partnerships. Do you think the ghost of conservative past will come back decades from then and try to scrap it just like how they want to scrap abortion?
I just thought I would throw it out at you guys. Feel free to add on.

The chances of civil unions becoming law through Congress are that of a snowflake in hell. Stopping the rapid march toward a Third World oligarchy is a bit more urgent right now. (P.S.--We've always had a New world oligarchy, it just relaxed a bit after World War II.)
