a DU newbie's ideas on what we have to do to win in '04:
I've been lurking on here for many months and finally joined a few weeks ago. Having observed the general tone and subject matter of posts, I have come to the conclusion that many are hoping that the * administration is going to implode- or that this is the only way they can lose. I have been guilty of this kind of thinking myself. Anyway, here's my take, for what it's worth:

The administration no longer looks invincible. They have screwed up enough, and been exposed enough, to pull * down into the 50% range in the polls. He does not seem to be falling further. Blame the media, blame the so-called "spineless dems," or blame whomever, but here's the deal: the Bushies are not going to fall apart. On the other hand, we've got ourselves a ballgame. I equate it to a football game in which you're down three touchdowns and then come back to get within a field goal or so. WE HAVE A SHOT and NOW WE MUST CAPITALIZE.

We must continue to try to expose the Bushies, but simply pulling them down (which they richly deserve) WILL NOT CARRY THE DAY! We have to win, rather than waiting for them to lose. Are we better? YES! WE HAVE BETTER IDEAS! As one hand slaps bush, the other must reach out to the electorate. We simply have to go out and win, rather than waiting for the other side to lose. It works that way in sports, and in life. I am confident in our candidates!

I look forward to the day when we can rally behind one candidate and really get down to business. I am leaning toward Clark or Kerry, but will gladly work my ass off for Dean, or Gep, or Edwards, or whomever we nominate. Yes, even Joe Lieberman. We can win. Me must TRY. We must be proactive. No more defeatism, and no more "woe is me" every damn time the bushies get away with something. Every scandal that gets swept under the rug introduces a little more doubt.

GO DEMS!:kick:

1. Agreed.
Thanks for taking the time to write this.
(Though I have a problem with "even Lieberman".)

2. I Agree
I would have a hard time supporting Lieberman, but better than another 4 years of Bush LOL

3. And can I add one thing??
It may not be popular to say but we damn well better give the mass electorate a candidate they will buy into. We have to look beyond the end of our noses and our pet little philosophies. That "ain't' the way these folks think. It's up to us primary voters to give them a big hunk of red meat to chew---a few uppercrust veggie cuisine dishes are going to be flushed down the garbage disposal and forgotten. We better know the electorate before we vote.

6. Well said
GOTV

Get out the vote.
We have more people. If they go vote in droves we win.

Ask your local Dem party to hook you up with the GOTV effort.
Tell them you will work all day on election day.
If you can't do it. Convince someone else to do it for you.

I, too, will support anyone who gets the nomination. We must remove these madmen from power.

9. So who's our Rush Limbaugh?
that's what we need. We need the dirty player, the mudslinger, so the candidates themselves don't have to do it.
