Today marks a new beginning....

52 weeks from yesterday, I will face the voters in an election that could send me to Washington DC as a member of the United States House Of Representatives. The next year of my life will be difficult, but I am anxious to get started.

Tomorrow, my campaign gets underway in full swing. I have one year to convince the voters of the 16th District of Ohio that I am the man who can help lead this country back to peace and prosperity, to jobs and helth benefits, to compassion and care.

But in order to do that, I need to focus completely on my mission here in Ohio. That's why I have made several decisions and I wanted to mention them here.

Notice that my avatar has changed. While I am still a supporter of Howard Dean and I will vote for him in the Ohio primary on March 2nd, I no longer have time to defend him on DU. Trust me, I support him fully and will not be swayed. But I have to take my own campaign more seriously....I will leave the Defense Of Dean to the hundreds of DU Dean supporters, who can valiantly debunk the charges of the few.

I have surrendered my leadership position as host of Dean Meetups and of the peace group which I founded here in Canton, Ohio. I will still take part in the activities of these groups, as they are part of my base support, but I cannot spend the time to organize with them anymore.

I have spent the past few months hearing advice from a great deal of you. I must now begin to implement that advice and work towards taking back the House. The right does not expect a challenge for Ralph Regula. The right has no idea about the tenacity of Ralph's next opponent.

I need your help to win this race...only a fool would think they could do it without their friends. I ask you to please help me in this long and important battle.

If you have ANY skill that could help me in my campaign, PLEASE consider helping out. Now that I have to put full focus on this campaign, I need you more than ever.

We have at least 4 candidates for major office on DU, and we could all use YOUR help. Please consider offering your skills to myself, Vince Whitacre, Charlie Crystle, and god_bush_n_cheney (otherwise know as Andy Stephenson).
