Soldiers' Homecoming and 'private lifestyle'
It blows my mind that I am seeing dozens of reports on CNN,FOX,MSNBC etc. showing soldiers coming home and kissing, hugging opposite sex partners/lovers/spouses. I thought our 'private bedroom lifestyle' had nothing to do with military service? It always stuns me to see how the media both cherishes and celebrates the humanity, intimacy, and love in the relationships of these soldiers. Yet if ever a gay or lesbian soldier is ever even mentioned, suddenly it's "look, what does their private bedroom lifestyle choice have to do with military service!?". Fuck the media.

Every time they show these lovey-dovey scenes it begs the question: Why do you consider gay and lesbian soldiers to be so super-human, non-emotional, priestly celibate, and heroicly asexual that you even presume they could achieve what no other straight soldier could ever accomplish - total celibacy and lack of any intimate contact for their total years of service as required under UCMJ article 125-A. To the degree that audiences love to bathe in these scenes of intimacy among soldiers and their families and sex-partners (yes, that's what they are), they should realize what a total joke it compassionate conservatism is.

1. that is an interesting point
and one that i hadn't even considered. It's another reminder of how entrenched war is into our "traditional values" bullshit national psychology.

2. It gets even worse!
Both George W. Bush and Dick Cheney frequently appear in public with their vaginal intercourse partners, even though both have said that sexuality is an intensely private matter!

Oh the humanity!
