Flag Police segment on The Daily Show

Did anybody else catch this. Man! It was scary. The press is questioning people's patriotism for ignoring flag protocol. They are implying that you are a traitor if your flag is dinged up a bit.

The worst part is that some newsroom assignement director approved the time and money it took to put that segment together.

I am so glad we have Jon around to shine the light on this craziness. The bit with Colbert after that was killin me too!

3. IMHO, it is very disrepectful to fly a flag that is in bad shape.

A smudge here or a frey there is one thing, but some of these people have flags that are in terrible shape and there is no excuse for this. If you are going to display a flag, I assume you are doing so to show your patriotism. To display a shabby flag or to do it in an improper manner is sad. Is it treasonous? No, but it is sad.

4. This is good to a degree

I don't go along with questioning one's patriotism but in a way it is fitting. The Right has been questioning the left's patriotism because we don't wrap ourselves in the flag except on such occasions as warranted. The right continues to fly the flag in all sort of tattered conditions and it pisses me off. I do care about the flag and it is apparent to me they are just going through the motions. If they truly cared they would not fly a flag that was no longer whole. They deserve to be called on this.
