Remember when the Confederate flag was an issue in 00? |

remember what happened? I don't without Googling a bunch of stuff to parse it after the fact. Does anyone remember what happened?

During a debate moderated by an MSNBC anchor, Bush was asked to state his position on the confederate flag at a SC federal building. Gore had answered the question directly, saying it should come down. Bush's answer was evasive: "I believe this is an issue for the people of South Carolina." It was so evasive that the moderator asked the same question with slightly different wording, but got the same non-answer, to wild applause. Implied, of course, was a wink-wink blind eye to racism under the guise of "state's rights." Funny how state's rights goes away when the issue is assisted suicide or medical MJ, huh? :grr:

McCain danced around the issue in SC, and today he regrets that. That's one time McCain should've straight talked cause the Rove machine was going to savage him anyway with despicable lies. And am I remembering correctly that Ralph Reed was involved in this?
