Judy Woodruff isn't letting go of the flag issue.

She asked Joe Lockhart about it who said he doesn't think Dean handled it well. That indicates to me that Clinton isn't thrilled. Lockhart is still close with Clinton and still acts as his spokesman when called.

5. Dean cares what Clinton thinks.

He's always talking about how he and Clinton are the only people talking about race the right way, and that the tax rates were so great under Clinton that we shouldn't be afraid to go back to that tax code.

There are one or two other examples which are slipping my mind (didn't he say the Medicare proposal he favored was the one Clinton passed?). However, I get the impression that Dean does care what Clinton thinks, and has been trying to embrace Clinton.

Therefore, if Lockhart is criticizing this, and if we can presume that Lockhart and Clinton have similar views (regardless of whether they've communicated them to each other), then this is significatn.

and this is only my educated guess. I believe she and Ann C went to the same "finishing" school that taught that looking like a starved prostitute is "attractive." I don't think he gets it either. First, Republicans think their economics are better. They hate liberal handouts and socialist programs. Talking to them about economics means changing the entire disucssion, not just offering more programs that they hate in the first place. Second, if we don't actually talk about the racism that the Flag represents, then we've already conceded 100 years of standing for racial equality. You can't presume one part of the country is more racist than another, you can't just tell people to stop being racist and think they will, and you can't say telling people to stop being racist is talking about racism.

There's another thread asking whether Democrats and Republicans have anything in common anymore. Looking at what's been happening around here the last few weeks, I'd say a whole hell of alot more than I ever thought.

20. Dean should be denied the support of the Dem machine

out of respect for minorities. I predict this isn't the last racial gaffe from this bumbling stumbling NRA appeaser. And don't forget his tactful characterization of Congressmen as cockroaches. Dean isn't a class act and the party owes it to long time supporters to diss this loose cannon of a Kulturwarrior.
