Clark: The military should provide abortion services |
|
At the Planned Parenthood debate webcasted just now, he said he would change things so that service personnel could have abortions in military hospitals.
He was asked if he supported the current system where female service personel couldn't get abortions in military hospitals. He immediately spoke an unequivocable "no" and that he would change it. Then he joked that he now had 53 seconds left to talk, lol.
This takes guts, I think -- abortions in military hospitals. Yikes. Talk about political hot potatoes.

1. Ha ha ha - he will probably be denounced for this by the rightwing, for |
|
being a commie who's "out of touch with mainstream American values."

2. Anyone want to still claim he's a Republican? |

Pretty gutsy. He deserves a lot of credit for taking a no-holds-barred approach to the abortion issue. He certainly isn't afraid of the political ramifications.
If Clark wins the nomination, the debates could be seriously entertaining.

There is no way bushco will agree to debate any dem ... but especially Clark.
Remember, they first agreed to 4 in 2000 and then put so many qualifications that none of the debates was a debate in the old style ... pre aWol.

5. One of the things that |
|
impresses me about Clark is the way he dealt with this issue head on. Simple staightforward answer. Pretty hard to spion it but I'm sure the folks on Fox will try.

That could hurt his chances with cross-over votes.

8. does he want to lose? Why would he bring that up? |
|
you just can't put a positive spin on "abortion". It's a gross, bloody act. The word should be avoided at all costs.

|

Clark is not a politician......so that's want he wanted to say.

13. Clark has really stepped in it now... |
|
He`s not much of a politician, that much is clear. His mentions of the seven nations campaign and the risk of one party rule demonstrate that he knows what is at stake but he lacks the political knowhow to avoid the distraction issues that the GOP uses to maintain its iron grip on power.
Being a general and being a politican are two different things and, while he has a fairly good chance of winning an election against idiotboy, it is not at all clear that Clark has the background to make the transition to being a decent president.
