These Lynch movie ads make me want to puke
Knowing the truth behind this whole story, and then seeing the BS propaganda being pushed in these ads, knowing that the movie will be a hundred times worse...it's all I can do to keep from :puke:ing when they come on.

7. mini-series, mega-lies
so CBS can't take any liberties with the legacy of Saint Ronnie but NBC can air whatever piece of war propaganda they please.

Ex-POW's Family Accuses Army Of Double Standard on Benefit

AUSTIN, Oct. 23 -- Shot through both legs and held prisoner in Iraq for 22 days, Army Spec. Shoshana Johnson returned home in the spring to a difficult convalescence that lacked the media fury and official hype that attended her friend and comrade in arms, Jessica Lynch.
<snip>

And now that Johnson is on the verge of her discharge from the Army, insult is being added to her injury, they say. While Lynch was discharged as a private first class in August with an 80 percent disability benefit, Johnson, set to leave in the coming days, learned last week that she will receive a 30 percent disability benefit from the Army for her injuries.
<snip>

Race clearly is a factor," said Jackson, who added that he will take up Johnson's cause with the White House, the Pentagon and members of Congress. "Here's a case of two women, same , same war; everything about their service commitment and their risk is equal. . . . Yet there's an enormous contrast between how the military has handled these two cases."

10. I saw that
and it just makes this whole issue that much worse. They're both paying the price (though Jessica may not realize it yet) for BushCo's war. Too bad America's not being told the whole story...

12. from The Nation
The network has yet to comment, but many media report today that CBS has killed its mini-series about the Ronald Reagan presidency. (It might still pop up on obscure cable.) This is despite the efforts of network execs who, as The New York Times reports, had been frantically cut-and-splicing "to fix what many critics -- none of whom had seen the film and were relying mostly on a report in The New York Times about its contents -- called inaccurate and unfair portrayals of the former president."

I obviously haven't seen the film either. It does sound like it errs at times on the side of being ... unkind. For example, the pre-frantically-edited version reportedly riffed of off Reagan's legendary unwillingness to deal with AIDS by having him tell his wife that AIDS was God's judgment on homosexuals. Reagan's backers dispute he held such an opinion. So Nancy Reagan and son Michael Reagan have every right to be upset; that's a very human reaction. Equally human is the reaction of long-time friends of the Reagan family like TV personality Merv Griffin, who complains the mini-series represents a cheap shot -- because it will be airing as Reagan, at 92, is still alive but also can't defend himself because of Alzheimer's.

But the bottom line is that the Reagans, their friends and their supporters all need to suck it up.

14. What is it with people and cashing off their trageties?
Tragety is not something to cash off on. Maybe it would be different if it happened to me, but it just cheapens the whole thing and shows how greedy some people are. (Like when Monica Lawinski posed nude for Penthouse during the whole Clinton scandal.)
