Robbedvoter's impression of Dean handling ME talks
Ladies and Gentlemen

I have gathered you from both sides at this table to reach an agreement. It's time for peace and unity. It's time to get past religion, history, territory squables and private grudges. You all need to think of your children instead! So, let's move on, drink some whiskey and eat this great Virginia ham together and be friends"

Inspired by Drudge's headline: Dean to the South: "Don't vote based on Guns,Religion or the gay issue"

16.  What was honest about Dean saying his remarks about his NRA support
when he made that quote about the flag, and then switching the story to say he wanted to start a "discussion about race relations" when the article never even MENTIONED race relations, and nor did Dean?

Find Dean's "honesty" in seeking a discussion about race in this article.

Kerry criticizes Dean's gun views
By THOMAS BEAUMONT
Register Staff Writer
11/01/2003
------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>>>>
Kerry, a Massachusetts senator, said Dean's opposition to an assault weapons ban in 1992, recorded in a National Rifle Association endorsement questionnaire, contradicts his position as a presidential candidate supporting a federal assault weapons ban.

Kerry supported the 1994 bill that outlawed the sale and ownership of assault weapons, which Dean says he now supports.

"Howard Dean, during the time we were trying to pass it, was appealing to the NRA for their support," Kerry said, while visiting a rural Story County farm.
"We don't need to be a party that says we need to be the candidacy of the NRA. We stand up against that."

Dean has said 2000 Democratic nominee Al Gore lost the election because he failed to win Southern states, where disaffected Democrats who favor gun owners' rights were reluctant to support him.

"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks," Dean said Friday in a telephone interview from New Hampshire. "We can't beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats."

Dean said he answered the questionnaire while running for re-election as governor of Vermont. He has said he was never asked to sign a gun control bill during his Vermont tenure.

But I swore to myself I stay out of it on DU. This was in jest - to make the point about diplomacy.

10. Interesting how these anti-Dean posts sink so quickly
Dean's weakness in foreign policy is a huge liability waiting to be exploited... but getting 37% in the DU straw poll what's to wonder?
I'm glad some people are looking down the road.

No wonder Dick Morris doesn't even need toes these days...

13. Dean's wife is Jewish.
So this post is definitely not Kosher and not very funny either.

This is a very Gore-type rovian attack

Dean wants Bill Clinton as his ME peace representative and negotiator. Maybe Jesse Jackson Jr (the Congressman) could play a peacemaker role too.

They would get Nobel peace prizes if they do it.

And the world would be a better place instead of only housing those who make pork jokes about Jews and Muslims.

Pretty low blow, chuckles.

Nice try, but it' was not Dean's wife that bothered me - but his insensitivity.

17. Hahahahaha, keep going,
me and Karl Rove love this ridiculously exagerated shit! Whaaaahahahahahahahahaha! Now let's try to link Dean to the KKK! It's not even remotely true but it's hysterically funnny, according to Karl! Bwahhhhahahahahahaha! Or how about saying Dean had dinner with Charleton Heston to ask him for advice! Bwbwbwbwbwaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha! You're killin' me!

19. KKK? Do you know anything I don't? My post was about tact (or lack of it)
How is that connecting to KKK or pleasing Rove?
Also, are you saying, we shouldn't criticize other Dems not to give confort to GOP? What a novel idea! Glad my candidate is practicing it - won't you tell yours to do the same?
Soledad O'Brian was trying REALLY hard to get Clark to attack Dean this morning - he resisted. She nearly blew a gasket in frustration.
Not a similar story on Dean though. Same day, same bat channel.

with porkchops, and the South will not wave the CF when it'll come around.
