5. Does he have a point?
His speeches seem to ramble. Maybe it's just because my eyes are constantly glazing over.

22. "women's rights"
I found that disturbing as well. Blathering on about women's rights while he tries to take away rights over women's own bodies.

whenever we hear the word deficit.

he hasn't gotten around to mentioning September 11th yet. I'm guessing this is supposed to be his great speech. Does he ever not lie? Is there a bigger projector on the planet? Could he possibly make me any sicker? Let this be my first use of a smily: :puke:

18. Let's invade them all and force them to be free
"Democracy is a good thing." Thank you, George. So let's leave them alone so they can fight for their own freedom themselves.

Doesn't Bush realize that the U.S. forcing "freedom" on other countries only plays into the hands of nationalist autocrats like Saddam or Castro? Didn't it ever dawn on him that the reason there are so many more democracies in the world today, in Latin America for example, is because the Unitied States stopped repressing indigenous popular democracies because they were afraid they would be communists.

21. message good, Bush bad...
Democrats need to be pushing this same kind of message. Dick Gephardt touched on it during the last debate I saw him on. He said we should strive to spread the 4 freedoms (speech, religion, etc) to everywhere.

I can't say I disagree. But I think Bush is a bad president. He delivers these well written speeches, but lacks the leadership to get the rest of the world to support his cause.

I wasn't against getting rid of Saddam, but I was against Bush's war (if that makes sense). If the threat was there and the world behind us, we should have gone in. But Bush failed miserably at proving the case (misinformation) to the world and failed to get support. Now our soldiers are dying and there's little progress in Iraq.

This is the way a Democrat can win. A Dem candidate must lay down a foreign policy that stresses spreading freedom and democracy (people like to hear that stuff). Stressing the domestic issues is good, but Bush will consider to score points if he keeps giving these propaganda speeches.

Fact is, Democrats need to be able to give propaganda speeches like this.

23. This will be seen in the coming months as his
announcement of widening the war in the M.E. to include Iran and Syria.

It's coming, just in time for the elections.

The mantra will be: Can't change horses in the middle of the war. Must keep Bush* in WH to finish this business.

Just wait.

That is what is happening here. Get ready.

24. I'm not sure more war is feasible... unless draft
We're almost at the limit of troop deployments. Tours of duties are expiring and new recruiting is lagging. I don't think the US has the troops necessary to invade Iran or Syria and occupy it.

I thought "freedom" and "democracy" went together. You bet that the PNAC is starting to show it's true colors, but we at DU already know what they are don't we?
