I confess, I do listen to some reich-wing radio shows on the way home from work... although I can only take less than 5 minutes of it before I :puke:

enny-whooo - I caught Neil Boortz's show where he was reading a posting from here on the DU about Baghdad-Bush, the Iraq occupation and the number of dead troops. Boortz mentioned that the posting was by a 58-year old woman...

Boortz went on to do some DU bashing, actually mentioned the DU at least 3 times...

I started yelling at the radio (like that does any good) -and it suddenly occured to me that reich-wing radio must be getting desperate to attack sites like the DU.

It was written by a long time poster here late at night. Unfortunately, when you say stuff like that, even if you don't mean it the way it sounds, the freepers will take it and run with it.

Not only that, but to make us look even worse, freepers will immediately start joining up and posting even worse stuff. What can we do? They post, we delete it, but if they save it, it still looks bad. I guess we could do the same to them, but since there are no liberal radio talk show hosts, who is going to denounce the freeptards?

I had followed the link to FR and got carried away when I replied here. Also, I feel the same as you when I wake up in the morning to learn about yet another death. It's been so depressing. And then when I hear right wingers speak casually about it, which is too often, I want to scream. This is all like such a bad dream.

In fact, I just had to turn off the radio. Some local winger is talking about the college kids down in Texas making a list of liberal professors at their school. As if it's some sort of black list. I feel my country slipping away. At 57, I can't believe that this is the best my generation is passing on. It's as if the nation is one giant sociopathic experiment gone terribly wrong. I will admit to feeling dejected at times too. I am living amongst the sheeple here in Northwest Florida and it isn't easy.

I do what I can by fighting the small fights locally. I joined the local Democratic party several years ago. Surprisingly, there are quite a few of us here. A loud minority of sorts. Granted there are more registered Dems than Repubs. but every election come hell or high water the repub. candidate gets about 80% of the vote. We know what that is about! Dixiecrat my a$$!

On the good side my son is in his first year of college and a Political Science major. He even got the Gay/Straight student alliance started at his college.

I have managed to make a small dent where I work and have actually converted quite a few to our side. At least they tell me they are voting for the dem. candidate.

Tony was saying that the administration will soon be supplying the news with cold feeds. That means they will start taping live events and then feed them to the news media after they edit them. No more live stuff from the WH etc. I don't know how far this will go before we march on the government with flaming torches. Maybe that would make me feel better, too. When I saw the post, I was utterly disgusted with it and was surprised that it stayed up so long and received so many responses. Skinner said that had he seen it in time it never would have lasted, but because he didn't it was up long enough for the whole world to see. Obviously, by Skinner's response that type of sentiment is not welcomed here at DU and unfortunately that poster still is. It's not about censorship but about taking it upon oneself to ruin the good name of something that someone else put their hard work and effort into. I was going to post to that effect on FR, using my alter-conservative alias, but I finally stepped across the line once too often and they banned me from posting (sob).
