Bill Schneider talking about the south |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 04:16 PM by jiacinto
Mentioning "values"--seems like a codeword for "race".
Says that economics has to be an issue instead of values.
Mentioning Dean. Mentioning his "Gay rights problem."
Zell Miller coming on again. Asking him why he hasn't switched parties.
Noises on the set are making it hard for me to understand him.
CNN Trying to interview him again. Zell claims he is "trying to help them". Claims that they have taken "the worst feature of the Mondale and McGovern campaign" and they have "combined it".
Claims that JFK won GA due to taxes and national security. He claims you "don't get different just to be different".
Asking him what a successful campaign: "Look back at winning campaigns. Look back at Clinton". Talking about crime and welfare.
Dem special interest groups are "high mainteance", but GOP ones aren't.
Dems have ignored "1/3rd of the country". Zell Miller claims he was "carried away by Clinton".
Bringing up 9/11 and asking for "grit". He "likes" the fact that Bush is saying that "we aren't leaving".
He has some legitimate points, but his behavior is disgusting.

3. interesting question from me |
|
if you think the meida is playing up Dean because Dean is a weak alternative or opposition to Bush, what makes Clark better? Just his service record? Dean has shown himself to be less liberal than Clark in a lot of ways...so what's the game plan of the Republicans? Why would they prop-up Dean?

18. The rest of us can read what the poster is saying. |

So he or she is not wasting his/her time.
Do you really believe someone ceases to exist when you're not paying attention to him?
In fact, her/his posts and your responses to them are very informative.

11. He was enamored enough with Clinton |
|
to introduce him to his buddy Carville in 1990. He delivered a rousing speech at the 1992 convention, proclaiming "Bill Clinton feels your pain." Those two used to be really tight. I'd like to hear what Clinton really thinks of him now.

15. What I like about the Gay Rights issue. |
|
Even if it is a loser, at least it would be one topic where the argument was about expanding rights. All the other issues (that shouldn't be) are about taking away our rights, e.g. abortion, guns.

The problem is that the quest for that particular group has a lot of downside. Now don't get me wrong.... everyone deserves to be left alone by an intrusive government. That's part of being free in America. It's just that beng gay seems so personal. As long as one doesn't flout their personal desires, desires that most people cringe at, everybody else just says 'ok, fine, in this country you are free to do what you want'.
It's pretty much the same with guns. As long as someone doesn't point their gun at you... no problem! Simplistic and unsatisfactory as an analogy, maybe, for this issue, but it does have a bit of truth to it, does it not?
Methinks supporting the mainstream idea of equal rights for everyone regardless of race, creed, color, age, and religious beliefs, and ensuring everyone has an equal chance to pursue happiness, will ensure that eventually even gays will be less discriminated against. What's best for everyone is good for the individual, right?
