How do you think the Repug's will spin the candidates skeletons?
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 06:36 PM by absyntheNsugar
It seems like every candidate has at least one skeleton in their closet...Kerry with Grenada, Dean with the Flag issue, Clark with his 'is he really a dem', Kucinich with flag burning and Gephardt and Edwards with Iraq. I'm sure there may be more...

The question I'm wondering is: say one of the Democratic hopefuls wins the primary (there is a 95% chance that one will) what spin do you think the Repugs will put on each candidates past?

ON EDIT: The reason I'm asking is not to start a flame war, but I want to asess the candidates weaknesses. As one poster said, after the primary the Repugs are going to get nasty, and they will go for low blows.

3. Was Clark a Republican?
Didn't know that....

I do wonder if they would paint Kerry as a French Looker...

6. No
He was independant.

And they've already started slamming Kerry as "French looking"... it's silly, really.

4. Clark as Republican
Clark's republican past ie wishy washy even sell-out status

Nahh... why would Republicans use being a Republican as a spin point? Maybe that he's an opportunist, but that's a hard sell, I think. It's more likely they'll go after Kosovo.

12. I agree
They'll go after Clark on Kosovo and the quote of the British officer saying he won't start WW3 for him...

And, with Dean, they go straight for gay marriage - especially in the South. i don't think a lot of those guys with confederate flags on their trucks are supportive of gay marriage.

13. This is the best possible issue
They should talk about gay marriage all day while people think about Iraq (and the PNAC plans for more), the economy, the lies, the incipient fascism...

2. Even without skeletons they'll make stuff up. They lie.
Why worry ahead of time how the Right-wing will smear things? Just do a fast response when they do a smear. Fast, fast, fast.

5. Clark's defense is the easiest
It would also be the most devestating to Bush. All he has to do is explain how Bush's extreme agenda convinced him his home was in the Democratic party. Details will be icing on the cake.

Now that would be an interesting exchange at the first debate with Bush.

7. It doesn't matter. The Busheviks will smear lie and dissemble
No one can stop them.

Goebbels v2.0 is so much more powerful than v1.0 (many advances in advertsing, marketing, personality profiling, statistics, and public relations).

That doesn't mean I am going to stop trying!

9. The REAL question is how will the Dems
rattle the AWOL, Halliburton, Yellowcake, Plame skeletons in this misadministration?

Each of these separately is much more damaging than all of the others of ALL the possible Dem nominees combined.

But will the Dems do it - or be cowed by possible "negative" "personal" attacks attribution to just telling the truth and trying to present a "positive" agenda????

11. I think we should let them decide. Whatever we write here will
be used against the candidates and DU.
