Critics of Gibson Film Claim Harassment
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/arts/AP-Film-Gibson-Passion.html

Sister Mary Boys, a professor at Union Theological Seminary in New York, said she has received harassing phone calls, hate mail by post and has saved about 85 e-mails from Gibson supporters.

---

``If the debate triggers that kind of response, what response will the movie trigger?'' Foxman said during the talk.

---

Boys said some of the e-mails she has received since then have questioned her faith, asking ``Why have you turned on Jesus?''

---

Fredriksen said Gibson feels he is being persecuted by the scholars, but she said their intention was only to correct mistakes.

``He doesn't understand the difference between criticism and being attacked,'' she said.

---

Show some respect, woman. Don't you know that's JEEBUS on that screen?

1. These people are ignorant of their own religion.
And then they point fingers at a nun. The ignorance and hypocrisy screams volumes.

2. Yeah, and Braveheart sucked!
He should rot in hell, as should the members of the Academy for giving it that Oscar!

Oh, don't give me that crap that my post doesn't have anything to do with Passion.

3. Your post has everything to do with "The Passion"!
That cretin Gibson probably wouldn't have gotten all the support to make this new piece of crap w/o the sycophantic Academy.

Get this: I know a woman who said she's going to see it because she thinks he's cute and that's another reason Gibson gets what Gibson wants.

4. Is Mel even in The Passion?
Try and find some stills from the movie--Time magazine ran a few--it is so God-awful bloody that she'll change her mind quickly. I mean, Jesue walking witht he cross is DRENCHED in blood. It's not only inaccurate, it reflects the fantasies of an infantile, sadistic mind.

5. From what I understand
Gibson is not even in the film, and he financed it with his own money. No support from "the adademy". In fact, the film was shot prior to any distributor even tepidly committing to distribution.

7. oh come on. that is not harassment
Boys said some of the e-mails she has received since then have questioned her faith, asking ``Why have you turned on Jesus?''

let's see... Gibson has been publicly attacked as an anti-Semite for the film, and this nun says she's being "harassed" by private emails that do nothing but question her faith? if this is the worst "harassment" she's received, i really don't think she has enough to complain about.

she apparently took a public position on a controversial issue, and is getting feedback from the public. what's so wrong with that?

8. What I find more interesting
is that the actor who played Jesus in the film was struck by lightning, as was some of the crew during the filming of this flick.....

10. AND the LORD spoke unto Ebert and said,
"Lo, behold this abomination of celluloid! Say unto the people that he who defends this work of blasphemy shall spend eternity stuck unto a theater floor. And he who will act as my SON shall be strucketh by the bolt twice, and his name shall be cursed in the land of the Hollied Wood."

And Ebert returned to the people and spoke unto them, "The LORD, thy God, giveth this film two thumbs down."
