Just saw Clark on Capital Report |
|
He was great-discussed his plan for bringing a multilateral force into Iraq, and NATO as well. He also talked about the don't ask don't tell policy on gays in the military. The man is so decisive on his plans, and it was great when he refused to be interrupted by the two hosts. He finished his statements and didn't allow them to cut in on him. How I would love to see him take on Hannity! I doubt that pug could get a word in edgewise!

1. He's been on Hannity a couple of times |
|
before he joined the race, I believe. I saw once of his appearances - I was impressed that, for once, Hannity was letting a Democrat finish a sentence. Tried interrupting Clark straight away on his first question, but Clark wasn't letting it happen.
Apparently Hannity was so flustered at not having the edge in the argument that he started referring to Clark as "Mister Clark" instead of "General."
Pretty amusing interview. I hope he gets the chance to do it again.

2. those hosts totally suck |
|
i saw that interview ...
Clark basically said his Iraq strategy was to bring in other countries, i.e. to internationalize the effort. He said he would try to achieve this by offering these countries a greater role in the decision-making process ...
The male host, Alan something or other, commented after Clark left that the strategy did not seem workable because the other countries have shown very little interest in getting involved in Iraq ...
Of course, he (the host) conveniently failed to acknowledge that Clark had stated this goal could be accomplished if more control over the situation was turned over to other countries that agreed to get involved ... kinda left out the key part of Clark's strategy, don't you think?
These hosts are nothing but cowards ... rather than debate the issues with Clark while he's there, they wait until he's gone and then attack his argument without acknowledging the key underpinning of the argument ... just pathetic ... i won't make the mistake of tuning in to those idiots again ...

The obvious point that it is unworkable for Bush to go to other countries and ask for help, having dissed them on every possible occasion since taking office, but it would be an entirely different matter for a new administration to do so. And the further equally obvious point that Clark already knows the leaders in question, has worked with them, and has won their trust.

We watched the show and she was amazed. They interviewed Schwartkof (sp?) the guy from Daddy Bush's Totally Awesome Iraq Adventure and he mentioned that he didn't think NATO would fit into the Iraq situation. Clark had already mentioned NATO and mentioned it again in his segment (when he told the interviewers that if they wanted his answers they'd have to give him the time to give them). They also tried to trap Clark into a fight with S over "don't ask, don't tell."
When the interview was over they turned to each other to explain to each other why the NATO thing was a non-starter, attributing the statement to S. Well, maybe they spoke off camera, but S never said what they said on camera and my wife caught it right away.
She's non-political but she has a well defined sense of fair play. The act on screen disgusted her. I explained how us Clark types suspect the media is deliberately trying to torpedo Clark and she said the evidence seemed to support what I was telling her.
The bias is so obvious it really does support the idea that these folks are simply whores, and not worth listening to at all.
Here endeth the rant.

they also asked Schwartzkof about Clark. He had the honesty to admit that he didn't know him, that Clark hadn't served under him, that he really couldn't say very much BUT Clark was considered ambitious and had gotten fired from the NATO job. He also referred to Shelton's remarks but admitted he couldn't say what Shelton was talking about.
A real professional smear job.

9. So, Schwarzkopf doesn't think Clark's plan will work. |
|
Does he think Chimpy's plan is just going swimmingly, then? Did anyone even ask?

8. email from Eric Westervelt (NPR) |
|
I wrote to Westerveld about his unbalanced reporting regarding the Shelton smear. Yesterday I received an email from Westervelt, telling me not to listen to NPR and not send them money. Nice...real nice.
Makes Gloria look quite peachy.
