Dean winning the primaries means the Peace Movement will win
Given the major endorsements Dean will receive next week, his incredible financial advantage, and dedicated grassroots campaign, it is very hard to imagine anyone else winning the nomination.

I think of that tonight and I remember March of this year. I remember happening upon a tiny article about Dean denouncing the war and saying, "who is this wonderful person saying the truth about this nightmare?" (This was before I discovered DU, buzzflash, and others.)

I remember how quickly interest in Dean spread. At work here, I would talk with the students about how much easier it was to rally around a leader (Dean) than just oppose everything BushCo was doing to our country.

I remember this and will never forget, because soon we invaded and the madness has only increased.

Except now it seems Dr. Dean will face Bush in the general election, and because of this, my voice and all those who tried to stop this invasion before it happened, will be represented.

Thank you, Doctor Dean. I will do everything in my power to help you restore democracy in this country and within the Democratic Party.

It is our party. The people's party.

5. I am very awake, EZ
and I understand what you are saying.

There will be a candidate who opposed this war in the General Election next year.

That is what I am celebrating tonight.

7. Too bad FDR wasn't anti-war, huh?
Tell me--would you want an anti-war President in the world we live in today, or someone who believes in diplomacy and would not take us to war unless absolutely neccessary? I'm anti-war, but am realistic enough to know that sometimes there will be situations where the U.S. may have to defend itself against the likes of another Hitleresque regime/bloc.

16. You consider
Iraq to be the same as Germany and Japan? I don't think so. Have you been to war? Wars are no fucking fun! Yes, I want an anti- war President that will only fight for just cause and the American will know that cause is just. Find something else to attack Dean on, this one has no merit.

6. I love Dennis Kucinich
and I believe in what he says. I am glad to hear from his supporters--they know of what they speak.

Dennis is wonderful. His campaign didn't go like Dean's. I frankly am wonderfully shocked that either of them would make it this far.

I have never and could never speak ill of Dennis.

8. Dennis is a good guy, don't get me wrong...
...it's just that his followers just irritate me to no end. ESPECIALLY when they start saying things like, "Will Dean's fans vote for the nominee if it isn't him," when I think it's pretty obvious that it's the DK-or-nothing mentality with that group.

Later.

9. I hear you
but I think almost all of DK's supporters will rally behind the nominee and I hope they maintain their beliefs by holding our party accountable to Green ideals...and hell, getting DK to be our new Labor Secretary.

DK as Labor Secretary, that would be revolutionary.

17. Whoa big fella!
I'm a DK supporter who has vocally and repeatedly stated that I'll vote for whomever the Democrats nominate.

What's more, my personal group of DK supporters here (hometown, not DU) unanimously say the same thing.

12. how about the others who voted for the IWR?
would a victory for one of them equaled a victory for the anti-war movement?

not to bash the other candidates, but Dean's bread-and-butter popularity came from saying This War was wrong BEFORE it happened. That is what I am celebrating tonight.

We've come a long way, baby.

13. BFD
what matters is their current position, not how they voted on one politically charged vote.

anyone of them, except Lieberman or Gephardt, as President would work to end the war.

15. I agree with the "we've come a long way baby" part
Kucinich and Dean are the original champions of Democratic opposition to the war. I'd be proud to vote for either one of them.

I remember the dark days after LIHOP with 92% support for the phony war drummed up by the phony President (sic), when Kucinich was a lonely voice of dissent in the political wilderness and I didn't know another soul in the world who opposed Bush.

I'll raise a glass to you to Dean and to DK for the distance we've come!

18. If you want peace, vote for Kucinich
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 11:36 PM by IndianaGreen
Dennis is the only candidate with the gumption to get the troops out of Iraq as soon as he takes the oath of office. All the other candidates will implement some sort of "peace with honor" that will bring neither peace nor honor.
