Voter registration question |
|
I am currently registered to vote in Texas, but I go to college in Maryland. In the last election, my absentee ballot did not count because it was 'late,' or so they said in the form letter they sent me. It was really disheartening because it was my first election. Also MD is a bit more of a swing state than... TX. :eyes: The only downside is that then I can't vote for my local representative, who is also BUSH's CRAWFORD representative, and is a DEMOCRAT. But then the F#$*ing redistricting probably eliminates him anyway.
So I want to register in MD. Do I need to unregister in TX??? Otherwise I would be registered in two states, wouldn't I? Is that legal?
Thanks for your help and sorry for ranting.

1. Register and vote in MD where your vote will count, hopefully. |
|
States don't exchange voter registration information like they do with traffic tickets.

2. Get an MD Driver's license |
|
and then you can register to vote there. That declares residency.

3. You don't unregister. They send letters to you and if they |
|
come back to them, they take you off the rolls. If you can, register in Maryland and vote in both states.

People living in one state near a border or borders with other states where the vote might be close..
1) Get driver's license changed from Home State to State B. 2) Vote early absentee in State B. 3) Cross over into State C & get driver's license. 4) Vote early absentee in State C. 5) Return to Home State and get new license. 6) Vote in Home State.
Weird. All you'd need is a friend living in each state so you can "borrow" their home address. Then again you might not even need that much..

On second thought.. any PA/OH/WV/MD-area DUers want to try an October 2004 experiment? We could end-up sweeping all four states, lol..
hehe.. just kidding!
